hey all, i'm new around here but have been looking for a while. I've been searching around for a new knife, and finally have my mind set on the BK11, plus its on sale on amazon currently for $32!

Now I already have my EDC that fits its purpose, the reason behind the BK11 is i've been wanting a nice boot knife as well, and since i wear cowboy boots almost daily, i guess a second EDC.

I've seen the TDI clip can be used to make the BK11 fit this purpose, and I was planning on getting that as well. just figured i would ask around here to see if any of you have found alternatives to using the TDI clip, to carry either the BK11 or BK14 in this fashion or a similar way. I've spent the day brainstorming ways i could carry it as a bootknife without the TDI clip, and all i can think of is shoving it in the boot itself, which isnt completely out of the question.

Thanks for the help guys! and if you're looking to get the bk11, check out amazon right now!

i've seen the nite-ize clip, my only question is how it attaches to the sheath.... from what i see it uses 3m tape, now i do love 3m and i know they make good products, i still think i would constantly be worrying about it coming off...

For the money, the TDI clip is really good. It's certainly not going to let your sheath go anywhere once it's clipped on.

Here's how mine is set up (was riding on my belt until I pulled it off for this pic):

There is also the nite-ize clip.

The secret is a little bit of sanding and cleaning.... Then it's there to stay.

The NIteIze clip has its limits due to its size. If you want to clip it to a belt or decent size webbing, go for the TDI clip. I still plan to get a TDI clip for a second BK11 sheath I've scrounged up or after I get a BK24....

I just got a BK-11 from there yesterday. It is the serrated model that comes with the clip, handle scales, and a tan sheath. It was a great deal! I showed it to a couple of guys at work, and they all want one now!

The Nite Ize clip is an option for about $5. I picked one up at REI one day and decided to give it a whirl. I have to say I'm really surprised how strong it is. Like JerryD said, it's all about the prep, make sure you sand it down a little bit so the tape has better surface area to grab...sand it, clean it, stick it, clamp it, done. I don't know what adhesive is on it but it's really strong. Obviously the TDI clip being 5 times as big and bolted on is stronger, but depending on what your doing you could get away with the nite ize. I like the nite ize for my application in a larger than normal front third pocket. However, if was gonna put it on my boot i think i would pop for the TDI to be on the safe side.

this is a very helpful thread. I was considering some options for a clip option for when I get my 14. Did not know about the Nite Ize.

Thanks

I took the clip off the otterbox for my iphone and superglued it to the back of my 11 sheath, it has worked well so far.

I had to carefully drill a couple holes to do this...the hole has to be big enough to accept the female part. If you drill a hole just for the screw the female (nut) part won't recess down into the sheath as you tighten the fastener so the rubber washer will compress. I just used one larger bit at a time until I could insert the female side into the sheath. It still wasn't so large that the screw would fall through the hole on the other side.

It is held to the sheath with just two fasteners on one side of the sheath. Sturdy enough. No need to overtighten the fasteners. Maybe a *small* amount of thread fastener, nail polish, etc. if you really like it.

I should have read your post closer...don't know if this will work on a boot knife!!

So... I hate to bring this thread back up after its been so long with any activity, but I also didn't want to start a new one. I'm torn between the nite use and the TDI clip. I've read that the TDI is a huge pain to get screwed onto the sheath. Can anyone verify that? Thanks guys and gals.

Nope.

Once I got confirmation that the rubber grommets were supposed to go between the clip and the sheath, it didn't take long at all.

I think the biggest problem most people have is that it requires a very small Torques head driver for the screws. I had one in my garage in a larger set of screwdrivers I had previously purchased. You might have to take the screw with you to the store and find a bit that fits, or maybe you'll get lucky like I did and just have one.

Thank you. I was wondering if the negative reviews were legit, or if people just didn't realize what they were doing. I'm leaning toward the latter. Appreciate your vote of confidence in this product.

yeah, not hard to install at all. I do plan to replace the torx heads eventually though. because i hate them so very much. the heads always feel like they're on the verge of stripping.
