I'm considering trying to make a pocket slip for my Camillus-made BK11 for EDC in my front left pocket. Has anybody done something like this with a fixed blade? I read the write-up about a folder slip and it looks like something I cann handle but I'm definately looking for suggestions.
Keep in mind I am a complete neophyte when it comes to any leatherwork beyond cleaning and conditioning work boots and an even bigger noob at sheaths. But a couple questions...
1. For the leather, it would HAVE to be black, but what should I be looking for beyond just the color? What type of b&m shops might be able to help?
2. Ideally the pocket clip would facilitate deep pocket carry (no, or minimal handle protrusion) as well as being large and heavy enough for belt carry if the situation deemed appropriate. Does anybody have a specific suggestion? I've seen a bunch of options on line, but it can be deceptively difficult to juge clips based on website descrptions.
3. Any general suggestions? I figure I could get this done at least as proof-of-concept but would like to do it once and do it right, so in that light I'm open to your thoughts!
