This knife was included in my "family photo", but it didn't really stand out; so I figured I'd post a thread.

The background story:
There was a lot to like about the BK11, right out of the box...but it just plain ol' didn't fit my hand. Having been around here for a little bit, I realized that there was only one thing to do - make it fit. I was rather partial to my hand the way it was; so that meant changing the knife. The result (old pics - introducing "version H.1" to those that haven't seen it

The difference is most obvious when pictured next to a Before shot

A couple months ago, I bought a second 11 - planning on giving it a tag-a-long spot (in the slot made for the Remora).
Obviously, I had to reshape the handle first....but I got distracted, as is my wont.
The result? Version H.2

Nothing all that fancy, just a subtle change that would have been less obvious without the errant file mark.
Here it is with H.1

(I really just wanted to make one last post before I vanished for a few months. TTFN, 'heads.)

With that change, does it still stay in the stock sheath ok?

I like the change though. I'd be tempted to remove the rest of the material between the handle and the choil, to give myself more handle, but then I'm sure it wouldn't be able to use the stock sheath at all. This might be a good compromise :).

Cool mod. A little more izulu-ish blade profile. I've been contemplating grinding down the hump myself. Looks great! [emoji106]

Very nice!

I've been contemplating grinding down the hump myself.
Did something similar to my BK24.

Just took a small diamond file and started taking down the hump to a smoother transition but not as much as above.

Sheath fit:
I don't remember how my BK14 fit before I screwed with it; but my stock BK24s both rattle a lot...and one has only minimal retention (meaning it falls out readily). With the 11s, I don't remember how snugly my first fit before I stripped the coating...but doing the handle mod loosened the fit. The one with the blade + handle mods rattles a a little more; but it doesn't fall out when shaken.

Vanishing:
It's what I do. I spend much less time online from May-Sept - I'd rather be outside. Besides...hanging out on this site tends to cost me money, lol; I need a break to replenish my funds.

I lol'ed!

Good call, smarter to do it this way than the other way around :)

I´ve been thinking about doing the exact thing to make room for my fingers..
Looking good!

Not at all sharp, actually. I didn't flatten it out as much as the first one, but I like it better. Still comfortable, and it feels just a touch more secure...as if the inward curve prevents my hand/finger from sliding. I doubt there's really much difference in that regard; but I still like it better.

Nice work! I did the H.1 version and love it. I want to do the H.2 version but like you I want to pick up a second 11. Been working on other projects so I don't mind a wait til someone wants to sell their unwanted 11
