I need help, my money is burning a hole in my pocket and I want the bk11 or the bk14 for edc and light camping tasks. I know the blades are the same so it ultimatly comes down to the handles and comfort in use. Any ideas would be great. Thank you.

If you have small to medium hands and like the idea of the bottle opener you might prefer the Bk11. Its a 3 finger handle. If you have larger hands or just prefer a 4 finger handle and aren't worried about having a bottle opener you will probably prefer the BK14. You can also get zytel scales for $13 for 2 pairs for the 14. I have both the 11 and 14 and prefer the 14. I can just get my pinky on the handle with the 14 and I prefer the feel of it.

I prefer the BK11 with micarta.
The full 3 finger grip is more comfortable to me than the BK14's "not quite full 4 finger" grip.

This I have XL hands and they are both a 3 finger grip for me. So I like the BK11 better

I've had both. The 11 just was not comfortable for my medium-sized hands no matter what I did. I traded it for a 14 which I still have. I also got another 14, I liked it so much. I use a set of TKC aftermarket scales on mine with a short lanyard tied on. With those scales and lanyard I have no problem with it being comfortable. The scales also changed the balance just enough to make it almost neutral. With the lanyard, it balances very slightly to the handle end. Made all the difference in the world. I don't like small knives that are blade-heavy.

That's the best I can tell you. The knives are identical except for the handles so that's where you're gonna have to make your decision

I have the bk14 and have held the bk11, I like the 14 better, but i have infant hands so..............IMHO get the bk14

Personally I find the 11 uncomfortable (I don't have any scales on it though). I have never used the 14 though, so I can't really comment there.

The upside is you can't really go wrong :).

The stock BK11 handle doesn't work for me, I'm going to modify mine whenever I find my dremel. If I had to do it over I'd buy the 14 or 24.

Both are great knives but I prefer the 11. I Have an 11 with micarta scales that is my EDC and probably sees more use than any of my other knives and lately I have been using my san mai 11 with no scales in the kitchen. I have actually gotten used to using it with no scales or para cord wrap and it feels pretty good to me now.

I still use my 14's and my 24 but I just prefer the 11 for daily use. The Bottle opener is great and I use it for all sorts of things besides opening beers.
But if I was going to the woods and would be doing a lot of carving and bush crafting, the 14/24 with scales would probably be a better choice.

Verdict: get both!! Look around online and you can find great deals or maybe go used?

I was faced with the same choice a few months ago and I ended up going with the Izula 2 because it was a full 4 finger grip. The BK14 was an almost 4 finger grip which I didn't like, and the bottle opener on the 11 was uncomfortable in my hand (although I loved the finger groove). I plan to get a BK11 and mod the handle at some point though because the Izula blade is too small for my liking.

I'd love to try the 14 but I only have the 11, which I don't find uncomfortable. I beefed up the top part of the paracord wrap running under the wrap on either side; it puts a little more meat under your palm. And I do like the bottle opener which, as Dex pointed out is useful for more than just bottle opening. The blade is stripped now, but the wrap hasn't changed:

I think I would like a 14 (24!), but if there was money burning a hole in my pocket before, it must have burned through and fallen out....
