BK12 question

I know what it is, the collaboration(s) involved, and where to get it....I'm just curious about the designation.
The blade isn't marked BK12, and it isn't produced by KaBar; so is BK12 just sort of an "honorary" designation, or is it official?

The 12 isn't deramped, until the owner takes it to a grinder (sander, file, etc).
What info do you need about it?

And I know collaboration doesn't have an "e" in it - not sure how that managed to slip past my lazy proofread.

(For some reason, I didn't think I could edit - disregard this post, as I corrected the first)

You re right, got confused about the ramp thing.i m just curious about the weight under the scales and such

The BK12 is a collaborative effort between Ethan Becker and Doug Ritter. The official name is the Doug Ritter RSK Mk2 'Perseverance'. It is not manufactured by Ka-Bar, but by Rowen who manufactures the ESEE knives.

They are exclusively available through KnifeWorks (but done in limited batches, not always available). Get one if you can, you will love it. Here is mine:

RSK MK 2 is the official name. It is produced by Rowen, the company who produces the ESEE blades.

If I am not mistaken, before Camillus folded, the knife was going to be produced by them and was going to be called the BK12.

Doug Ritter and Ethan resurrected the project a few years ago and Kabar gave them the ok to do it but they couldn't put the BK numbering system on it since Kabar wasn't gonna be making the blade.

So yes, around here it goes by the name BK-12 cause that's really what it is.

Hope that helps and I hope my memory is correct.

Thanks - I suspected it wasn't officially BK12, since it wasn't a KaBar made product. I'd already familiarized myself with the backstory; but it's good info for anybody that didn't go looking.
