Wanted a way to carry a Becker Knife on a hiking day pack. For some of my day-hikes, I'm either in state or federal parks, so a BK2 or BK9 would be a no-no if put to real use. I had a BK13 new in the wrap still, and thought it would make a great day use hiking knife.

Here is what I cam up with (para-cord, and a small carabineer):

Haven't put it to use yet, but like the way it blends in. The more I use my other BK13, the more I like the little guy.

Very creative, and very well done. I like it. Thanks for sharing that with us, I'm sure others will be doing the same, or making it their own.

Great job on the oft forgotten Remora. I too went for the Remora, I wanted the Eskabar, but the sheath on all of them suck, so I went with this, I'll get an Eskabar when they improve the sheath.

I do like what you did, it looks great, I have some paracord on mine also.

very nice, i have a 13 on the way and i will be using as the knife on my PSK. maybe I can modify this to attach to my accessory pouch.

My Eskabar sheath rocks - it's one of the newer ones.

To the OP - cool idea.

They have improved it. It now fits the blade shape, and doesn't rattle. If you get one of the newer ones of course.

Why can't you carry a BK2 in a state or federal park? Is it because of it's shear awesomeness and the rangers would be jealous if they wern't packing one? Thats what I am think'in. :)

Nice rig and solution to CA park rules and regs.
I lived in Cali for 35 years I am a true native. I moved from that sh!t hole 15 years ago and will never go back, sad because I was born there. Anyhow so now you cant carry a knife in a state park there? Yea that will solve all there problems.

I apologize to anyone I might of offended with my above post. It's just when you see the place you were born and grew up in turn into the joke it is now. Well it can get ya a little angry.

Why didn't you just edit it instead of double posting?

Found some of the responses humorous. Yeah, California has its negatives as well as its positives.

Anyway, I didn't mean to make it sound like a BK2 couldn't be carried into a state or national park. As far as I know, there is nothing illegal about carrying a BK2 or larger BK9 as long as its in plain sight.

What I meant was actually putting one of these to real use would get you in trouble. Things like wood gathering, primitive fire making, shelter making or land clearing is what would get you in trouble. Again, I'm talking day hikes in these type of areas. About the most I'll need a Becker knife for in a state/federal park is to cut open my Mountain House meal or Clif bar package. ;)

The closest National Park to me is Yosemite. I'm not totally sure, but I think you are allowed to build small camp fires in the back country on overnight backpacking trips. I don't plan to backpack in Yosemite, due to alot of other rules and regulations, such as permits, need for Bear-box food containers, etc.

There are many other areas near Yosemite that are great for camping/hiking/backpacking. Nation Forests or National Wilderness areas where about the only thing you'll need is a free campfire permit, and all camping style activities are fair game (well, need a license to hunt or fish). These are the areas were a larger Becker will come in handy. Have few trips planned later this summer because currently most of these areas are still under snow.
