The BK13 that came with my BK9 is made in China. I see you can buy a BK13 "Remora" that is made in the USA. Why would Becker do that? Just curious. Seeing China on my knives is like dating a really hot girl with a scar on her face.

The BK13 that comes with the 7 and 9 is free, so the only real way to make that work is to produce the knife in China where it is cheaper. The "Remora" version that is sold individually is produced in the USA just like every other Becker model that you actually pay for.

I personally don't give a rat's ass where companies produce their knives, as long as the product I receive does what I want it to do. So far, I have no bad experiences with foreign blades.

It wouldn't say Becker on the blade if it weren't good.:D

Actually, the ones made in China were kind of a test, a proof of concept, and when it was decided that they were good little knives, they shifted production to the US.

imho, while free and very good, the new usa made Remora's have a much better fit and finish than the chinese models.

good value either way imho

I think the heat treatment on mine may have been defective the blade seemed to ding and scratch easy but then again it is stainless so maybe normal. It got a nasty chunk out of it after It was dropped a foot on to some gravel and it dulled within a minute or two on cardboard but it was free so I can't complain and my BK-9 doesn't feel a bit duller even after being sunk 2 inches into a tree a few times.
