Has anyone tried to mod the BK 14/24 stock sheath to fit when this knife fitted with larger scales? Can a hair drier or other heat source soften the sheath to re-conform to larger scales similar to what Kydex can do?

Thanks,

OK, I decided to search the web about glass filled nylon, since that is what is used for this sheath.

Thermal physical properties for 30% filled nylon.

Heat Deflection Temperature 264 psi. 400 °F
Melting Point (Crystaline Peak) 500 °F

...another site
Heat Deflection Temp at 264 psi 482 °F

From Wikipedia:
Nylon can be used as the matrix material in composite materials, with reinforcing fibers like glass or carbon fiber; such a composite has a higher density than pure nylon. Such thermoplastic composites (25% to 30% glass fiber) are frequently used in car components next to the engine, such as intake manifolds, where the good heat resistance of such materials makes them feasible competitors to metals.

So much for the idea to reform the sheath.
