Is there any way or anyone who could cut the BK14/24 out of a different steel such as vg-10 or 154cm? As well as make it in a saber grind?

There are lots of people that would make you a knife in those steels... not so many that would would do an outright copy of the Becker design.

That would definitely cross the line. Best bet would be to find an old San Mai 11. Probably about as close as you're going to get.

Unless you do it yourself, should probably ask Ethan 1st. Kabar truly owns the rights, yes?

Again I don't see the moral issue of making one for personal use as long as you don't sell. That's just my 2¢

I was thinking on that as well, if I were to ask permission and make it only for personal use. I also thought about the people who make handles similar to the default ones. How is that not crossing the line but slightly modifying the knife is?

I love beckers and uncle Ethan. But kabar's quality is going downhill. A friend of mine recently did a hardness test on his bk16 and to his surprise it was at 52hrc. This was done at the blade. Mind you, kabar advertises the hardness at 57-59rc. He got stationed in japan last week and I don't think he contacted kabar regarding it.

Hey Knife Chop......

I really, really want to know about your friends knife....... His problem would be a first, as far as I know....... Perhaps an
unheat treated blank slipped in somewhere ???????....... We really need to see that blade........ Please call me at 423 295 2500 or email me your phone number to beckerkt@gmail.com.

Thank You.....

Ethan

I am usually home 9-11 eastern and most evenings......

What is your weigh in on making a BK14/24 out of a different steel or grind? Who owns the rights to the designs?
