So now that I've been bitten by the Becker bug, I figured I'd give my brand new BK14 a little attention.

Here she is making friends with my BK12:

And hanging out with me at work in her new clothes:

The cord wrap was nice, and made her look really good, but I wanted to try my hand at some of the more interesting stuff I've seen around here. So I decided to go ahead with the gun blue and bleach etch. I followed Clich's excellent instructions, dabbing on the blue with a cotton ball. She only had to sit in the bleach for about 20 minutes and here is the result:

All she needs now is some new leather (thinking Skystorm pocket sheath and conceal sheath) and she'll be good to go!

Just need to figure out what my next Becker will be :)

Nice work, looking good. Do you have a "professional" light box, or a homemade one?

Thanks!

Heheh, if by professional light-box you mean a sheet of white paper and some creative cropping, then yeah :)

Haha. I do have a light box I purchased. I didn't know jack about them before ordering. It came with a few small lights that were an absolute joke. Not near bright enough. It's a nylon, 18" box. I use two 500 watt halogen lights for it now. It works well, but my camera's lens, I feel, isn't big enough for good enough light gathering capabilities. I end up manipulating them to get them brighter yet.

I did an almost identical wrap on my 14 when I first got it. I liked it. I was almost sorry I switched over to the factory scales.

Looks good, Geek. The etch looks great with that wrap. Now get yourself some sweet kydex to round out the package.

Thinking about putting the Izula micarta on it actually, as I don't really care for the Ka-Bar zytel ones. Definitely getting some kydex soon as people weren't lying when they said the sheath dulls the hell out of this thing.

The micarta is cool. I loved the zytel scales after I stippled them. Very grippy and good looking.

I tried my hand with stippling the grivory handles that came with my BK12. I'm just no good at it. Besides that I don't like the look of how the BK14 handles come all the way down around the loop at the end. Just personal preference I guess.

I'm right there with yah, I ordered these right before the release on the zytel scales and I reallly like how they look.

Nice! Is the color in this pic accurate? I thought the Izula scales were a little more greyish, or are these not the factory Izula scales? How hard were they to modify to fit the 14?
