Well, as my finger has been too screwed to really do much knifey stuff, I decided I'd get my fix by making something to allow my Esky.

Inspired by OpKey's thread here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/923006-Photos!RoyalPalmz-Sling-My-Neck-Knife-Kit!
I decided that I'd make my neck lanyard a bit more multipurpose than the usual length of paracord. I would also incorporate a sling....it doubles as a nice neck pad too! Oh and I also wanted it quite garish!

So I tried to make a pouch type sheath as Royal Palmz, but, it was dog toffee. Nothing to do with my skills of course, just my dodgy finger.

Tried an alternate version and this is what I came up with:

Convexed the edge too....along with the cord wrap and Cobra Lanyard to hold a wee compass

The Sling in action....

When my missus saw it she said "Why the hell have you been weaving a chin strap?" thought she was real funny.

:D

I don't know about a chin strap, but park that on a branch and you have a handy dandy a$$ sling!

That is awesome! I'm really digging that cord color as well; great use of your time.
I have been debating whether or not I should rig up a nice baldric rig for my Esky but I think it is time I finally try it out...off to the surplus!!

I hope the finger heals up quickly!! Thanks for sharing!

Awesome. Glad to know I inspired someone. I agree, I have no idea how RoyalPalmz did the sling. I didn't look at it too much into detail or try to figure it out, but it seems like it wouldn't be just simple.

I seriously need to convex my BK14. I think it would perform way better than it already does.

I have convexed mine an really like it. I think it holds a better edge and is easier to maintain it.

The chin strap cracked me up lol :D

Cheers folks...glad to bring some cheer ;)

Convexing the edge is an absolute must. Unfortunately it does come at the cost of the coating though.
It looks different again now....

When my new toy arrives it will be different still!

Looks very cool. Good choice on the color, makes it stand out real nice.
Hey man thanks, that means a lot. I really dug what you did for OpKey.
That style was just too tricky to get neat and tidy for me.
The paracord seemed too stiff and inflexible to weave proper.
This was much easier and really my first dabble into this kinda knot-work. 'Fireball' is the name of the colourway.

I started making these slings when I had my knee operated on with 6 months of work off. I tried a few different ways of tying them. Now I use a jig and a single strand of paracord to get them looking the same everytime. Shoot me a email if you have any questions. Gotta say it again. I really like the color alot!
