Well this is the first mod on any knife that I've every really done besides stripping the coating. I wanted to try doing it on one of my "in production knives" before attempting this on my Camillus BK11. The one thing about the Becker neck knives that I don't like is that they don't have jimping. So I added my own and I really like the way it turned out. I used a small round diamond coated file to start with and finished with a slightly larger half moon diamond file to round off the edges. I'm thinking next step might be an apple cider vinegar bath.

Nice mod! I prefer mods which improve functionality over aesthetics. I may have to do this to my 11 and 24 ;)

Well I decided to try an acid and stonewashed look on the BK14 today. I did two 15 minute heated FC etching dips and then made a home made stone tumbler out of a large plastic spice container. Then added a hand full of aquarium stone and aquarium ceramic filter media for the aggregate. Shook it around for about ten minutes and called it done. Damaged the edge a little, some work on the diamond stones fixed it right back up though.

Nice looking work d-wade! So, at the risk of sounding like a lazy slob, how much time did you invest in the file work?

I maybe spent 20 minutes at the most with it, those diamond files work pretty fast. I lined the spines up with one of my 16s and marked the spacing to match. I really like jimping but I also wanted it to still look like a Becker.

Thanks to everybody for the comments. It was a fun project and really glad I didn't screw it up.

Very nice sir! I especially like the finish! Expect to see more of that from other folks...first I've seen like that. I may try my 16!
