So I'm getting ready to order an eskabar, but I was tryin to figure out what handles to get. The main ones I was looking at were the kabar grivory and the izula micarta, but really I'm open to anything(preferably on the cheaper side) so what do you guys like and suggest?

I don't have a 14 but I do have an Izula. The Izula micarta doesn't do it, at least for me. I recently got the Grivory scales and put them on the Izula and they make a world of difference, the reason being that the Izula (14) handle is too short for me. The Grivory helps to extend the workable length.

Of the 2, get the Grivory.

^this. also, the zytel (grivory) is cheaper. You could always add liners to either if you need more thickness. worst case scenario, you'd just need to grab some longer fasteners. For the record, just put the zytel on my rediscovered 14 today. I'm digging on it pretty hard, and I have ginormous hands.

I have the zytel handles on mine. They're really comfortable and they're easy on/off .

I have large hands and i find the zytel scales to be very comfortable .And you get two sets with hardware for when you buy another 14/24 or an izula ;). The 14 is one of my favorite knifes , and my favorite 3" or so knife . Field dressed my deer with it last season .

I don't have any experience with the Izula scales but I have used a paracord wrap on mine and also have used the zytel scales. The zytel scales make the knife feel much more comfortable in the hand. If you do go with the zytel, be careful not to overtighten them.

Why does everyone type knifes , it's knives ? Other then that I love my 14 with the zytel scales , it's an edc

The zytel is sounding really good, but I was wondering if any of you have experience with the new g10 scales that esee makes? I like that its thick like the micarta but still covers the whole handle

Mi yeti , wasn't a shot at you , sorry . I've just noticed that a lot across the forums. Murph, are they teenage mutant ninja turtles ? And what's with that turtle anyway ? I keep drinking , and I offered him a beer , but he still just keeps glaring at me ? :confused:lol

I'm just screwing with ya!

I don't have any experience with the ka-bar grivory for the 14 or the izula micarta. However I have made some various sets of scales for my 14 and 24 and it is both enjoyable and pretty easy. If you (or someone else) has some left over tweener micarta or grivory you can easily turn them into some really comfortable handles for the 14. Or you can make them out of some wood just as easily. Whatever you decide to go with be sure to post some pictures and let us all know how you like the knife.

First time I've seen these, bravo!

Thank you sir. Since the ones made from the tweener scales share the same basic shape and they tweeners, they make the little necker feel very comfortable. I highly recommend trying it with a set if anyone have some extras laying around.

I've tried the Izula micarta. It was OK...
I've tried the Grivory. It was better...
I've even tried TKC G10 scales. They were very nice...

But the BK11 with micarta is the best!!!
(For me anyway...)

I have the ESEE micarta scales on my 14, and while it's better than no scales at all, I wish I bought the plastic ones instead.
I picked up some G10, and will be making a new set to replace the micarta next.

I have the ESSE micarta on one of my 24's. It's very stylish and cool but lacking in overall grip area. They are not worth the money spent or the mod to get them to fit the 14 or 24 (pain in the ass for me)

But I have the Zytel on my 14 and my other 24. Not going to remove them.......ever!! Love those handles!!!
