The top one in the photo I picked up new the other day. The sheath has very little rattle and fits the blade shape very nicely. The bottom one I bought slightly used the other day. The sheath has a ton of play in it and the blade molding is odd. Were the earlier BK14's molded different with a tanto shaped sheath? Just curious

Those aren't 11's...I think they're 14's. Eskabars, if I'm not mistaken. I have the 14 and it's very new, and mine still has some sheath rattle.

I have an 11 and 14, both have the tanto looking sheath, I got the 14 when they first came out

both sheaths have alot of rattle but the 14 is worst

Earlier models came with the crappy tanto sheath. Newer models came with the nice, blade-shaped sheath. I have no idea why they chose an oversized tanto-style sheath, seems like it would have been much easier to just mold the sheath to the blade the way the new ones are.

sidenote, are those Sharp's scales on there? they look...sharp lol.

old sheath is historical Camillus pattern iirc. there was a knife that never hapened, neh?

well, old knife is still not happening... so they fixed it. there's been a few silent revisions all over the place. KaBar doesn't say a lot on that score. they do it. people notice, if they notice at all ;)

stick a [half of an] earplug in the sheath, solves rattle issues nice. me? i used the liner from a pop top. same but different.

Good idea with the ear plug Bladite. A small piece of it worked perfect. Now Im gonna be 'earpluging' everything I can find.

older sheaths had a tanto shape fitting. No idea why but both my 11's have it.

Bought my 14 about 2 months ago and it still had the tanto sheath.

Contacted Ka-bar and they said I could buy the new one for $20!

Decided to give my $$ to Azwelke for a custom sheath that costs the same!
