Well went on a BSA Campout this weekend showed the boys how to make a feather stick but figured the BK14 would work a bit better with a grip for the thumb and a bit of texture for the fire steel. So a bit of football about an hour of work with a triangle file and 2 beers later...............

TRIANGLE FILE?

heathen! begone :)

okay, maybe not.

Good lord that isn't even close to better. You need to do better at this. Send me the knife and I will take a decent picture for you.

I'd be more worried about blade integrity, don't baton with that now!

There is no way that the little amount of material removed is going to be enough to affect the integrity of the blade in batoning. The knife is too small to really put much force into regardless of whether it is jimped or not. Mine has much deeper jimping and has held up to some very intense batoning with absolutely no effects on the blade.

Is your jimping between the handle and the spine though?

Right where the two meet, yes. If there was going to be an issue, with all the jimped 14's out there we would have heard of an issue by now. Moose himself had his jimped mightily and I know for a fact he sets out to break the darn things.

Roger that.

I'll still keep mine squared though. ;)

My 11 & 14 are jimped all the way down the spine. I have batoned with them HARD. No issues. Not as deep as his though.

I had to blur my eyes to get the photos in focus, but it looks to be a nice job. :D

Alright mister, you have had at least two days to get better pics up. We DEMAND BETTER PICS!
