I had a BK15 on my list since it was the only Tweener I didnt have. Now I think it may be my favorite. It came with a hair popping edge. First things first I had to strip it. For some reason this one was much harder to strip. It was almost like it had a primer on it. The main coating sluffed right off like normal but there was still a thin layer of black that I had to scrape off. It took a bit of elbow grease. Then I hit it with the brass wire wheel on my bench grinder. While it was stripping I made some leather pants for it.

Then I tried a little fuzz stick it would make the curls as fine as you wanted. The choil worked great for this fine work. Yes that is the factory edge I didnt even strop it, bone stock.

I think I may have a new favorite tweener. If you have been on the fence about this one get it. Balance is great ergos are great and I look forward to seeing what else it can do.

It looks great Psy and the leather work is getting damn good. My kitchen help just loves hers.

I still like my 16 a little better but just barely.

Congrats on the new steel & on having someone in your life that knows you well enough to get it for you.:)

Thanks I know that review was pretty long winded but Im glad you read it :)

I love this knife too. A question though - I like to carry mine IWB in a kydex sheath made by jd at the710customsheaths.com. I sweat a lot and don't want to take off the black coating so as to protect the knife from rust. Is there any problem using the black coated BK15 around food?

I dont think so as long as its not coming off. I do strip the knives I use with food often so they slice better. It also lets you get a nice patina. I do know that cold blue is not food safe so if you strip it dont blue it.

Nice review, thanks! This is my favorite of all the "tweeners", although I like the coating and probably won't strip it. It looks the most comfortable for choking up and using.

I was somewhat on the fence about getting this knife but after seeing this I ordered one and a 11 just cuz!
Should be here Monday:D

Thats cool. Nice looking sheath too.. I like the look with the coating removed
