Love micarta and I always encourage people to make some themselves. If not, saints cuterly or wait awhile for the Ka-bar ones...I'd offer to make you some but I dont have the right membership and frankly my stuff is horrible haha.

Im going to second Cam_H16 on the micarta. Try and make some yourself, you will laugh and you will cry, you mighteven hrt yourself a little bit. but in the end you will have a unique knife that you can call your own

saintcutlery sells micarta for the new BK Shorts on fleabay. I had to sand mine a little to fit, but I like them a lot as they are slightly beefier in hand than the zytel scales. Still fits the stock sheath too.

So that is where they come from. Thanks. I saw someone post (maybe it was you) a pic of these the other day. I think they look awesome.

The saints do feel better in the hand than the stock grips for sure. Mine still manage to fit in my Azwelke kydex which is a bonus!

Once I swapped out the black zytel for the brown, the brown grew on me. I'm leaving that alone for now.

What would be groovy is if KaBar started making the standard zytel handles in all sorts of far out colors.

Well, theres G10:

Just curious. What kind of wood is that?

That wood is Walnut. Also a quick disclaimer. I sdold that set as "seconds" for half price. That is why the fit isn't perfect. Didn't expect to see pics of them on here:o

That 17 is growing on me. I really like the G10, though maybe not the contours. I wish more custom guys would start making G10 scales. Tommys stuff is the shizznit for wood.

A wood burner and about 10 minutes and voila, I'm in love again. Just enough grippiness without being overly aggressive.

Wow, very nicely done Cshepherd.

That turned out really cool and looks like it'd give a good grip.

Nice, but do you have a thing for the #5?

Anyhow, really nice, looks nice and grippy!

Actually it would be closer to "s" since my last name is Shepherd. :-)

I played around with different patterns including stripes and such on the inside of the scales and found that the "s" was the easiest for me to keep looking decent and it gave a good grip as well so I went for it. I've even done one more custom set of "s" scales for a coworker so I guess I'm a trendsetter. lol
