So I fell in love with the 15 awhile back and after using it for awhile there were some things about it I wanted to change. I decided I wasnt a huge fan of the trailing point and liked the drop of the 16 much more, however I really liked the choil. So the first step was to drop the point slightly, which has had several unintended benefits, such as increased tip strength (nothing I can put in a metric, just more metal behind the tip) as well as a much sharper tip. Next I stripped the coating to help it move through whatever I was cutting easier, its been very beneficial with prep as particles dont get stuck in the traction coating making it easier to clean off. Finally I replaced the scales with micarta which has been the improvement that made me the happiest. I also bought a Sharpshooter Sheaths 4 inch slip sheath, which has been a great value. I know most of these mods are fairly common, but I thought Id share mine.

Wow I've never seen a modded 15 blade like that. Looks great. Good idea. I have the smaller sharpshooter sheath for my bk14 and find it to be a great value as well

Excellent work. And you know what, even though the individual mods are all somewhat common (not sure about griding a drop point onto a BK15 though, that seems pretty uncommon), I don't think I've seen all of them together before. It looks great :).

And Sharpshooter leather sheath eh? Believe it or not, I've never seen one of those before, and I just looked them up and they do indeed look like a good value. How does that one fit the BK15?

Looks great....I have picked up quite a few 15's, and am planning some mods, one that also includes dropping the tip. I am thinking of dropping the tip farther down like a spear point.....similar to the SK-5 Blackbird. I think the sweeping belly on the blade would keep it a good slicer, but open the tip function to me camp/bush oriented duties.

nice job!
I think an even gentler curve to the drop (same final tip location) would be really hot.

Thanks :) and the sharpshooter has been great for the week I've had it. Even dropping the tpi I only lost an 1/8 inch from the length of the blade so I would imagine that sheath fits a stock 15 much the same way.

Oh wow! Nice mod!

I agree with daizee about the more gentle curve but whatever it is your knife man... Great job!

Let us know how you like it long term.

And a huge thank you to you sir for designing such a wonderful tool that makes me find things to use it on.

Wow man! That looks great.
I'd have never thought to drop the trailing point.
But I gotta say, I like it. A lot!
Nice work.

I've always wondered what a 15 with modifications to the blade would look like. Turns out it looks fantastic. Great job!

Damn, you pulled that off extremely well. The sheath, re-profiling, the whole shebang. Excellent work!

Very cool, nice mods, may have to try that tip myself.

Glad to hear you like the new scales, as I recently ordered a set for mine :)
