Posting from work, so no pics at the moment. I acquired a BK 15 after reading a bit on it and landing a good deal in the fro sale forum. I am trying to get teh family into camping and i needed a good quality knife that wont break teh bank. I have a ton of folders, but they are different tools for different jobs. I have a Mora in stainless for fishing. The 16 looks like it will work great for the food prep aspect. I also Ordered the micarta scales to go on it. I tried the grivory, and as small as it is it felt a little slippery. I'm looking forward to going out camping to put it to use. Living in suburbia has it's drawbacks. Pics to follow.

Very nice, not one I've ever really gotten into but that's just me. I started out with the BK-2 the Bk-16 then bk-14

The bk15 is the master of food prep, so it makes a really nice camp knife if you have a larger blade for heavy duty tasks. The 16 is a great bushcraft knife, and/or all around blade. You'll love the 15 at camp. Have fun in the woods, and be safe.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking as well. i have traded for a RAT 7 - not sure about that yet, but since it was a trade I can't complain. I may wind up offing it in favor of a 9 based on what i read here. I need to feel it in my hand first. I am not going to need to chop a lot, but maybe baton some since I don't particularly want to pack an axe. I'm more of a fisherman that a bush craft guy :) This is more family camping than true Roughing it. My Wife and daughter aren't quite there LOL

The 15 is just as good at bushcrafting as the 16. You'll love it.

Yup, and with any minute fraction of ability or skill you'll get by with no problems. It may not excel at certain tasks but there's not much it can't handle for what it sounds like youre looking for.

Nice score and welcome!

The first step in controlling an addiction is admitting you have a problem. Don't worry, we're here to encourage and enable!

I see a 9 in your future...
Then an 11...14...you won't be able to resist the allure of the all mighty BK2!

Stick around, post some pics, and have fun!

The 15 will prep the daylights outta food!

Great all around handy sized knife to have at your side while camping or otherwise outdoors.

Congrats!

The BK15 is one of my favs. And the BK15 is much better at food prep than the BK16.

As an axe substitute for those on a budget, consider the BK4. Otherwise, get the King BK9.

The stainless Mora 746 (4") and Mora 748 (5.75") Craftlines would be excellent choices for the daughter and wife.

Congrats on a Great Knife ! I never thought I would like the 15 or the 5 but , I can't say enough good about them . Not much they can't do .

Finally the Pics:

I also have teh black sheath, but I think with the micarta the brown looks better.
