Got to work this morning and found that me new BK16 was delivered on Saturday. Along with that my new setup from firesteel.com was also delivered. Here's the new toys getting to know each other.

I have to give major props to firesteel.com. I didn't realize that they were such strong constitutional promoters and patriots. I will be ordering quite a few more things from them now.

Camping trip this weekend to test a few new items. Testing out the switch from tent to hammock camping and 5.11 Rush 24 / MOAB 10 bags.

I really like the feel of the 16. I would probably like it to be a little bit thicker though so I may add some liners. Really like this blade. Quite similar to the ESEE Laser Strike, just a bit smaller.

The tweener sheath matches pretty well with the sandstone MOAB bag.

The 16 is a fine 'craft knife..very nice slicer. I also hear that with a lil grinding magic it makes a pretty good clip point too! :D

I also like some liners on the 16, which is weird because I prefer the 17's handle left factory. Maybe it's how I use them?
 
Thanks guys. Yeah, it's a good size. TB, I was really close to going with the BK17. I like them look of both. I guess I just favor the drop point a bit more. the 17 would be nice though.. and sharpen the clip just a bit for using the firesteel. Hrmph... I'm sure I'll end up with it eventually. :)
 
How big of a spark does that fire steel make?

Pretty good spark. I tested it out with the magnesium in an aluminum foil lid that I had here at work. Make some shavings and then tested lighting them. No problem at all. Even deformed the tin foil a bit. Good stuff.
 
Looks like a great set up. Congrats on the new blade. I have a 511 Rush 72. Thinking about getting the MOAB for it, Let us know what you think of the MOAB.
 
I realized the BK16 is actually VERY close to the ESEE 4, so I wanted to take a few comparison pics. The BK16 is a little bit thinner in the stock. Blade shape and length are almost identical with the BK16 just having a hair more of a drop to the drop point. Hard to choose between the grips since I have the TKC scaled on my ESEE 4 and they are quite nice. I think with liners the 16 will be better... so I'll hold of judgement for now. Suffice it to say that both are very good.

I have an ESEE-4 in desert tan also, it can be difficult to choose between the two for an outing. I do not, however, have awesome custom scales on my ESEE-4 like you do, sweet setup! (Both the 4 and the 16 :))

If you had to pick one (I know very broad) but I'm sure you got a little bit more love for one than the other, name brands aside, which would it be? AS IS no new liners or after market sheath.
 
Very nice indeed! The 16 has made my list for sure and the eese's are definitely going to be on there soon as well!
