I already have a BK2. Wondering about a BK16 for deer hunting? Small game? If not the 16 any suggestions?

17 would be my choice for deer, but the 16 sure wouldn't let you down.

It'd work for sure- but I think the 15 would work better. The 17 is good as well, and an 11/14 is great for hunting.

Will Fennell's Hands.

Ethan's Knife.

My edge.

Yeah, it will work just fine. That was the saber ground one, the FFG cuts even better.

Thanks Moose, I sent you an email. Which of the three listed would you suggest more, the 15, 16 or 17? Thanks.

15
17
16

That's how I would rank them as game knives. I use my 16 more, mostly because I have it on me more. I take the 17 out when I go small game hunting, and I use the 15 for carving up meat in the kitchen. For takin' animals out of their dinner jackets, I give the nod to the 15 and 17.

16 will work good though.

Tough call. I have them all, so, I don't envy your decision.

I think all of them would be good for field dressing. The 16 and 17 are a little bit shorter and will probably do better for smaller details, but the longer and curvier 15 would definitely give you better slicing and would certainly be a better skinner with that upswept tip.

The 15 does have the choil though so you could choke up on the blade for the finer detail, just saying.

That Fennell fellow could have used a piece of broken glass and made it look easy.A good hand can make any of the tweeners work and would choose the style that was best suited for what it would most commonly be used for. That is,a 15 if you shot a lot of caribou and moose and catch a lot of salmon, the length and shape of the 15 make it a good choice. The spear point of the 16 makes it a handy shape for bushcrafting stuff so it would be the pick for that crowd and the clip point 17 appeals to folks that like a pointy kabar looking profile
