BK16 scales?

Hi everyone,
after much deliberation I finally pulled the trigger a few days ago on a Becker BK16 and am now a one of the converted.....yes I have become a Beckerhead!
Love the knife and am very pleased I have chosen one of Mr Beckers tweeners to be my belt knife, it fills that role perfectly. I am going to be doing some modifications
to make it my own and will be upgrading the scales, this is my question to any tweener users out there..............I would like the handle to fill my hand a tad bit more,
will the Micarta scales be enough or are the Knifeconnection G-10 scales with/without liners more hand filling? any feedback would be appreciated.

Jon.

I've had both and the TKC scales are absolutely fantastic! The factory micarta is thicker and more hand filling though. For the price the factory micarta is a great functional value and is what is on my current 16.

I have the Micarta scales on my 15, they are very nice and do give a fuller grip. The full-size TKC scales are actually thinner than the full-size grivory scales, but I do not know if the same is true for the tweeter scales; someone else should be able to confirm that. There are also some nice wood scales out there that are similar in size to the factory scales

You can also head to your local home improvement store and buy some shower pan liner (thick vinyl lining) and use a layer on each side. Home Depot has grey, don't know what Lowes or Ace carries.
You can also use the thin plastic/rubber cutting boards of various colors, normally found in blue, red, green, purple, yellow, all the vibrant ones...

This. I believe the "Tweener" TKC scales are thinner too based on a set I handled at Blade show.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase.

I have both the micarta and g-10. The micarta is thicker then stock and the g-10 is a hair thinner. I use the micarta on the 15 as I feel the added thickness helps with the longer blade profile and use the g-10 on my 16. The extra contours on those scales give it a better feel in the hand in my mind for your camping/hiking tasks. I did put a set of micarta on my saber grind 16 as well but that one is too nice to use ... Much lol

Also don' forget you can get awesome wood handles. Tommy makes a get set.

Cheers Guys,
Going with the Micarta, in the middle of stripping and convexing........just ordered a custom Azwelke kydex sheath scout style, will post pics when it comes in :)

This is what I did with my BK-16. Didn't care much about the lanyard hole, so I covered the whole handle with a beautiful pair of hand made Cocobolo scales. I just bought the wood and modeled them for my (big) grip. Hope you like them.

Best to all and keep 'em sharp.
