BK16 Sheath Alternates

So, I’m slowly trying to get a decent review written up about the BK16. In the carry options, I have the issued sheath and kydex options already listed. What about leather? I’m not really tempted to put any more money into this project, and rarely use leather sheaths anymore.

So, now that the pretext is laid out, what leather sheaths would the beckerheads recommend as the “best”? What’s the best option that the beckerhead community has used and abused?

Second question I had, would a BK16 fit into a short Ka-Bar leather sheath? These are pretty inexpensive, and if they fit, would be a good leather option. My google skills may have been lacking. What do you guys think?

Second question first, yes the tweener will fit the short KA-BAR sheath.

Not sure who makes the “best” leather pants for the Beckers. I usually make my own crappy leather sheaths for mine. 710 makes some awesome hybrid sheaths though…

Does the short Kabar sheath fit correctly?

The short Kabar has a blade length about an inch longer than the BK16 so I’d imagine he sheath would have an extra inch beyond the tip of the BK16 just wasted.

Sagewood gear makes amazing leather sheaths. His design philosophy appeals to me in that he wants mounting options in his designs, and he over-engineers everything. A hell of a guy, and a Beckerhead to boot!

Thanks for the responses, hopefully they’ll help make a better review. Holding off till we get back up north and have actual woods to test them out in. I want to have as much realistic use as possible. But, this gives me time to hopefully answer most questions in the actual review. I figure anything I can’t answer, the Becker head community should have some good insight to.

Yeah from what I recall the sheath is a bit longer than the 16. Fits the 15 almost perfectly. Better too long than too short...

Also seem to remember the Condor Bushlore leather sheath fits the 16...

He went full-time leather sheathmaker there in Duluth. And they had a baby. Just plugging along making leather goods. Makes a heck of a leather (insert leather product here).

My favorite leather option for the 16 is also very affordable. The "K" pattern sheath by JRE Industries. Pouch style sheath with a dangler and a firesteel loop. Can be had on LTWK's website for $40 bucks.

Modified stock sheath, and custom Azwelke.

710 also makes a mean kydex&leather, but I won a gift card from Al. Fits like a dream.

Custom leather from Psyop, and Ka-Bar Short.

Love the custom.
Short is an inch too long and way to flexy. Got all mangled up on a 2-day backpack trip. Tip kept snagging on my pocket.
But it will hold the knife.

JRE Type K. I think they called it Scout when I bought it a couple years ago.

Fits great - nice and snug - but I got it for my Trapper.

Rainwalker leather for SwampRat RMD. Fits, but not well. Fine sheath, but very stiff leather.
RLO leather for AR KE Bushie. Too small, but will protect the blade in a pinch.
