Does anyone have pics of the two knifes side by side? I am curious about the difference in size, I was thinking about getting a BK16 but size concerns have me leaning towards the BK22.

Thanks!

What are you wanting to do? The BK22 is the same size as a BK2, only difference being the sheath.

Here is someone's picture from the internet:

Looking for a general carry knife. I will use it for camping, hunting, etc.. I do have other knifes but have recently become a fan of Becker knifes and would like to add one to my collection. I do use the knives I buy and hope to get lot of years of service from whatever I get. :-)

BTW, thanks for posting the pic. From the image it looks like the handler is not appreciably bigger on the BK22 as i thought it would be.....

thanks!

The BK2 (or 22 in this case) is a tank of a knife and will do a lot of jobs without much worry however the BK16 is a great blade as well. I have not had much time to really try out my BK16 but so far but I must say I am impressed by it. Either way you can't really go wrong. You could look at the BK10 as it has the same general dimmensions as the BK22 without the weight.

I have the 16 and will use it for hunting. Something the size of the 2 isn't ideal for field dressing/butchering, IMO.

I took that pic and some others for a thread on this very subject a few months ago.

I wish they would have just stuck with BK2, instead of designating the same knife the BK22, with a different sheath.

As the picture shows there is a big difference in size between the BK-2/22 and the BK-16.

That being said I don't think you would be under knifed for most of the tasks you would face while camping.

The BK-2/22 is a beast but can handle smaller tasks too with patience.

I'd go with the 16 because of it's versatility and the fact that it weighs about half of what the 2 does. Unless you think you really need a "tank" of a knife, that is. I just don't see myself needing a knife that is 2 or 3 times as tough as any normal knife.

The 16 will do almost anything that a 2 will but may require a little more thought and preparation.

I vote 16 -- lighter weight, less bulk, easier to belt carry - or drop in the tool pocket on your carpenter pants, more comfortable handle (to me), pocket on the sheath for a multi-tool or altoid PSK, etc... and in a pinch, it can be neck carried without herniating a cervical disc... :D

I had both the 2 and the 16 (daughter stole my 16 from me). Here they are with my 14 as well.

They are both Badassery of steel, either choice will not be wrong. You'll end up getting both eventually anyway...:D
