So I am the first to admit I am not the most knowledgable person when it comes to blade types, designs, etc. But I am learning (mostly from reading what you guys are posting). Today DerekH let me use his BK16 (Sabre Grind) so I could get a feel for it. I liked it well enough, felt good in my hand, comfortable and not too heavy. So I wanted to cut a spear shaft for a stone spearhead I have. I found a sapling that I thought would work and cut it and stripped off the limbs. Then Derek hands me his BK16 (Full Flat Grind). I used it on the same sapling to square off the top and bottom and I didn't feel like I was using the same knife. It cut so much better. It was smooth and definately had less resistance. Anyway thats just my two cents on it. Like I said I am not an expert but I could tell the differance between the two grinds. Here are a few pics of me using them, Derek is going to add some pics he took as well.

Interesting, this really cleared up the differences between the two. I have been curious to see how the two would compare.

I wanna see the spear head and finished spear LOL

I agree, the FFG16 is (in my humble opinion) the better of the 2 grinds (for cutting/slicing anyways, the sabre MAY be stronger for batoning and such). I just got rid of my sabre (pretty as it was, and it IS pretty) and bought a FFG today.

nice action pics Major

Glad I ain't the first to be bitten by the BK16 bug. So, you're buying one when?
