BK16s Cross-Threaded Bolt/Nut?

So I received my BK16 from SMKW a couple of weeks ago and haven't gotten around to really testing it yet, but was curious if anyone else received one that had a cross-threaded screw? I have since taken it apart and flipped the nut to get the fresh threads on the other side and it holds fine, but did try to snap some pics as seen below.

Thanks

I changed mine to stainless, so, I'll be honest, I didn't pay that much attention. Mistakes do happen from time to time, though.

Flipping it over is a grand idea, and one that my dumbass has yet to realize, until now. I always do the "go slow, and recut" method.

Your way seems better. Much better. :D

I done some math, 750 knives, at 3 bolts each, is 2250 times to secure the handles. Blows the mind to think about, and thats a LE run, imagine putting all that shit together, day in and day out, thousands of blades in a years time. I'd shoot someone. Probably Warrior. Yeah, I'd shoot him. In the thigh, flesh wound, I wouldn't kill him, he's too small to make regs at the check in.

I felt the same initially, but like Moose said, it happens and didn't affect functionality at all.

When you changed to stainless, did you use the same thread length on each one? I ask as I noticed the threads extend a little beyond the handle material in the 1 & 3 bolts, especially the #1 (closest to ricasso).

All this said, I do like the knife very much and am very much looking forward to the micarta grips!

Yeah, same size, and you are correct, when fully tightened, the do protrude past the handle, and make for a very uncomfortable experience with the blade.

I Dremeled mine down.

Thanks Moose, no dremmel here, but I'll take a grinder to it. :D

probably Ethan did it, while at smokey mountain, and then hid it in the pile :) they had him working night and day finishing these

Just one more quality control issue with this series (like dirt under the black coating). I'll be curious how the -4's are going to look.
In these days of ISO 900X industries, this kind of crap isn't acceptable. Yeah, I can see the lady sitting at her bench with the overhead-supported power driver whacking the screws and nuts onto the handles within 4 seconds for all three. I can see a miss every once in a while. What I can't see is the knife making it into the box.

My liners make up just the correct amount of space that the screws fit fine! Prior to that they did stick out too far and were felt by the hand.

hey, shite happens. it happened. 3x750 screws/bolts assembled/operations, that are NOT production i should point out, hastily assembled i'm sure. SMKY bought them as is :)

we'll see what happens with productions.

but you know what? if it was a PROBLEM you couldn't easily fix at home? KaBar would fix it for you. that's the warranty. would stink a little if you had a booboo but honestly, with KaBar backing you up, and Ethan swooping in for a looksee? nothing to worry out.
