I used dark green rit dye at 1/2 cup dye and 2 cups really hot water mixed in a sprinke of salt because i wanted to and left for 10 minutes. i checked them and washed them off but they were a little bit too light still so i soaked them for another 20 minutes and then washed them off completly and this is how they turned out. I really like them but i almost made them too dark so id suggest checkin them every 10 minutes as i think the 2nd bath of 20 minutes was a little too long.

I have the sheath taking its bath now as well and i will update once im done with it.

Completely awesome! Excellent work and ima do this the first chance I get.

Looks nice, I like the way the salt gives it the satin look. I assume you used the peanutbutter scales.

Thanks and yes i used the peanut butter scales. now i wish i had another set of peanut butter scales to do some lighter green and id like to try with red dye as well.

This is a very easy to do mod just make sure to keep watch. the scales took the color in alot faster than i thought and the 1st time i checked on them most the color just rinsed off so the 2nd time i left them in for double the time but that turned out to be a little longer than i wanted. i was shooting for a certain color and i got pretty close so im happy.

Love the color of the green. I might have to try this down the road. Keep us posted on whether or not the color fades quickly.

Good job dude! Those look great, they'll look cool with the sheath to match.

I RIT dyed my zytel 14 scales about 7 months ago and it has held up pretty well, and I use my 14 A LOT (probably the most out of all my Beckers). It was pretty dark when it first came of the dye, after a couple weeks the excess seemed to rub off and it has stayed the color it is now since then.

Fresh out of the dye, May 2012:

I like those 14 scales, looks like wood almost!

I got the sheath out and washed it off with a little soap and hot water and here is how it came out. I threw it back in the dye at a little darker concentration because i want the sheath darker. but so far so good i think!

Dude that came out good!!

Those looks really nice WW, I'm thinking I might need to copy that style. For slightly lighter would you go for maybe a 20 minute (total) soak?

Thanks guys. well im done soaking the sheath and i washed it off real good with hot water and laundry soap to get off any excess and here it is. not much difference since the first soak really but i like it and im finished!

thanks for joining me on this journey :)

Yea i would just check it every 5 minutes or so and rinse it off with hot water and if its not dark enough throw it back in. you can always make it darker but you cant always make it lighter :)
