My new BK2 arrived today and I am very pleased. I wanted the new coating as I like the protection it offers as well as the look of a knife when the coating starts getting worn off. Wasn't a fan of the previous coating and while I haven't used this knife yet, the coating certainly feels as tough as people have been saying. Feels on par with my ESSE's, maybe a bit rougher...but i really like it.
So I immediately dispatched the original scales and replaced them with my Kabar Cocobolo scales, which fit perfectly, feel great, and look the business! The original sheath is still in its plastic and has been shelved, will never be used. It will live in my leather sheath.
Finally, one of my favourite knives (if not the favourite), is set up just how i want it.

Some pix as it did happen

No, I can't. I think code you used is to embed links in a web page rather than to display the image directly. Try one of the other options.

Ah it works now, you beat me to the punch. Never mind....

Great looking BK2 you got there. The wood scales really match that hedgehog sheath well.

A very attractive set-up... Also did you make those scales? They add a level of warmth to the 2..

that thing arrived today and already it looks like that? SWEET!!

btw, you can go back and edit your own posts. You used html img tags instead of BB square-bracket img tags.

wow, that is one of my fav mods that I have seen. please advise on those scales... jealous. I also like the clasping mech on the sheath, quieter than velcro and a snap. also adds to the traditional look.

I've got some pretty bad sheath envy right now, Hedgehog LW does awesome work. Great setup man, now get out there and use it!

Thanks everyone for the great replies. I have to agree, it is a sweet looking knife and i reckon way underpriced.
Anyone interested in the hedgehog sheathes, their workmanship and materials are amazing. I almost didn't want to use the sheath it was such a work of art. Sometimes some of this gear is so nice I have to remind myself that I'm not buying it to look at, it's for using and doing things i love to do and getting out there as much as possible. So believe me it will be used and abused. You can see i've nicked the sheath on the side putting the knife back in. That hurt but thats what its for.

The scales are actually Kabar one-offs Tooj sent me. They are exactly the same profile as the original plastic ones and are exactly the same shape on both sides. They have been made by a machine. If you look closely you can see the tooling marks. Looks like the same mark as on my kabar micarta so they were obviously trying different materials in their machine over there.

Sweet looking blade. I want to get one and get the micarta scales on it with a hedgehog sheath.

Hey Ohiteka, i couldnt recomend it enough. The hedgehog sheath design has changed since I got mine. There is now an extra pouch where my fire steel is which is a cool addition. I know they're pricey and there are more modern materials but I figured it will definitely outlast me, and then my boy can have it. I like leather. The smell, it breathes, moves, molds to you, and absorbs and probably takes back home a little of where you've been with it in its substance...just like we do. Kinda grows with you. Plus it needs a bit of care. Sorry im gettin way too deep
