Spent the past 3 days outside with friends processing firewood. There was nothing pressing that absolutely had to get done so I set out to just have fun chopping up and batoning the fire wood. The 2 has become my favorite Becker.....probably my favorite blade for that matter, so I wanted to really bond with it and this was a great opportunity.

The logs ranged in size from about 10 inches around to 20 inches. The larger ones I had to approach from several different angles but I tackled it all with nothing but the 2 and a large club.

This sounds like a no brainer, but a larger heavier club (baton) makes a WORLD of difference in driving the blade through the log. Not sure the kind of wood but a lot of it was pretty knotty and twisted. This made me more eager to really test the BK2 by flat out just powering through the knots and seeing how it held up.

It did great. Many of the really knotty logs put up a great fight which was perfect because it allowed me to really punish the 2 and exploit any weakness. None found. I beat the 2 about as hard as I possibly could and it didn't flinch. Love me some BK2!!

Nice review.

Now I really need a BK2. And an ESEE 5/6 accessory pouch. And maybe another BK14 so I can bolt it all together.

Need More Pics!!!

Thanks for sharing. I know the 2 is an awesome beast of a knife and can handle nearly anything you throw at it. Just need more pics to spice it up.

I agree completely. I've really dropped the ball in the pic department on my last few outings.....and they were perfect for pics. I will be sure to get some action shots next time out.

Like I mentioned before.......this wood was especially twisted and knotty. At one point as much as I pounded on the 2, the twisted knot just wouldn't give on this particular log. From a birds eye view.....I could swear the 2 was flexing in the knot. Maybe it was the angle I was looking at but I swear it looked bent! Can't imagine that blade bending, but if it was......it sprung back to shape after I pried it out of that log. That would have been a perfect opportunity for a great pic.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Sometimes I'll just go out back with a 2, 9 or 4 and split wood for the firepit for an hour or so. It's good therapy. And god knows I need therapy....:D I've flexed them all in twisted ash or hickory and they just spring right back.

I just love to see'um hard at work........ That is a blade that did a little work!!!!!! ...... Thank You!.......

Can you elaborate on how you use the BK2 to baton stuff that's significantly wider than the blade is long? I've been using a big thick Ontario machete to baton, but not sure how you go about with a short blade.
