These are knives I've either hiked with or would consider hiking with -- all mostly in the size range of the BK2 & BK10:

I tried to post several photos but the Blade utility crashed; so I'll see if this one makes it.

so would it be a safe assumption that length of the knife is more of a bother to you than weight and girth? i would (perhaps mistakenly) have to assume the bk2 and 12 both weigh as much or more than the bk7 which i know you have but i dont see the 7 as one of your options.

Those two to the right of the Beckers are pretty funky looking.

Very nice. Every time I see the BK10 I want one more and more.

The two to the right of the Beckers were my favorite hiking knives for ages -- actually only one, I bought the second recently -- The Buck 639V. This was the only Buck I ended up liking on a hike. I have several others, however:

I can see you've had the knife bug for a while now. It is just the Becker turn now. I had to slow it down some. It just begins to get a bit crazy after a while.

I might get a 10 one of these days. And I like my 105 Pathfinder. I also have the 102 which my wife likes and I gave my old 119 to a woman in the far north. I was never really interested in getting another 119 after that. Never say never though I suppose. :) I carry my 110 now and then and used to wear it so much that the leather sheath is polished and has a permanent set in it from the car seat.

A long "while." I bought these Bucks back in the 80s -- except for the Border Patrol 110X, number 1154, given to me by my Brother in Law. He may have given that to me in the 90s -- can't recall.

While I really liked the look of these Bucks, after my buying spree was over and I had all the Bucks I wanted it turned out that I didn't really like carrying them on hikes because they rattled in their sheaths. The 124, the heaviest one, rattled least so I carried it the most. As to the lock backs for EDC I did carry them off and on but carried the Bucklite 426 most of all. I was surprised to learn that there is a cult following of Bucklite's over on the Buck forum.
