BK2 - blade only?

Getting ready to grab a BK2. It seems likely that I will remove the finish and replace the handles and hardware as well as get a different sheath. So basically I just want the steel!

I emailed KA-BAR to see if they ever sell just the blade and the answer was no.

So for y'all that are familiar with the community; do people often sell just blades? If not, then I guess I'll have to put up with some Chinese plastic sitting in a drawer. Thanks.
 
hey man ,1st post Becker forum, nice. You know I've been in the same spot, didn't want the sheath or the Grivory scales, so I went ahead and made up 10 or 15 sets of handles and I'm coming back around to the grivory, I hated the sheath so I modified it with a tek lok. The sheath is passable now. I still want some nice leather and a spec ops combat master but the stock sheath is not bad. I think it's taiwanese also, which I guess is china. Give it a shot the way it is. Besides someone will buy the scales and the sheath off you.

If you have a gen2 sheath (with thumb push ramp) I believe WyWifeThinksImCrazy will buy or trade it from you. Just contact him. And... the Grivory isn't that bad. Seriously. Ethan put a lot of work into those scales, I think they're patented for a reason.

Thanks for the welcomes. I've been lurking these forums for a while as I was doing research on what fixed blade I wanted (the BK2 won out; it's tanki-ness and design and apparent quality fit my need for something that will hopefully be my one-and-only until I croak) and I've come to admire the brotherhood.

Also, the quick solution to my problem; one of the users wants the grivory scales and the sheath. Problem solved <power chord>!

Now if I can just get the snafu with my order straightened out and get the damn thing in my hand, heh.
