BK2 bunny killer

I have to dispatch a paralyzed rabbit in my backyard. I am thinking of using the BK2 instead of a hatchet because I think I'll have greater control with it and it is sharper. Wish I still had my Busse TGLB for the extra reach but...

I did a search but nothing came up. Having never killed an animal before, will the BK2 be an effective tool for the job? Am I to expect a lot of blood?

Any counsel would be appreciated.

If you don't want to deal with blood (i.e. not going to skin or eat it) give it a solid whack to the head (or what silverthorn said if you don't mind getting close) but yeah a 2 would do it.

Spine whacking a rabbit in the noggin with a BK2 will send it off pretty quick . Just dont' wince at it, thimp it good.

Or just place the blade tip right behind its head, and press down rapidly and strongly. All the way, don't half ass it.

Then skin it, cook it and eat it.

Thanks for your help, guys. I went out to the backyard with the BK2 and found that the rabbit had expired. Must have seen the BK2 coming and had itself a heart attack. RIP.

I didn't even have to use my BK, today was a good day.

Huh. That's strange. That's usually the reaction when someone brandishes a BK9, not a BK2.... :D

BTW, I would give that animal a wide berth. If you need to move it wear disposable gloves and wash your hands. An animal acting weird and paralyzed, then dying for no apparent reason, can mean rabies.

Exactly. Keep your hands clear or clean when messing with it.

use a shovel- bag it - then throw it in the trash - clean the shovel- wash up - brink beer- play with your BK2- drink more beer - good day

Grab him by the rear legs and hold him up. Grab a good beating stick and hit him at the base of the back of the skull. Hit hard and don't miss or you'll have to do it again. And yeah... There is gonna be blood.

Edit. I should stop being lazy and read the whole thread before I reply. The rabbit is dead already. Also, yeah. If you didn't paralyze the rabbit yourself (weird), then assume its sick. Eww.

OP - not to sound unkind but next time you find yourself in a similar situation, don't waste time posting questions on the Internet. Cowboy up and put the animal out of its suffering. Which knife or club or whatever you choose really isn't all that important - just get the job done quickly and cleanly.

Heh, yeah, I was gonna say "I bet that bunny is dead by the time you get back out there."

I used a machete to finish a groundhog once. Can't recommend it. Nope.
Bunny's are delicate creatures in comparison, I'd agree with most of the above.
