Thanks to all who have posted their projects and ideas.

This is one of my newest knives. Decided to...

1. Remove the epoxy finish on the blade with paint remover, but left epoxy under the scales to help prevent corrosion;
2. Force a light patina on the blade with grapefruit slices (read about this on the forum);
3. Switch scales to micarta for better feel;
4. Add a 550 paracord lanyard; and
5. Ask a friend to make a unique, leather sheath.

Gotta go camping soon!

Sweet looking set up. She'll serve you well. How's the sheath ride, scout or vertical?

Very nice! The patina looks great.

Noticing the BK&T logo is still pretty prominent - did you get one of the old roll stamped Beckers? Or did you do a deeper etch on one of the new laser etched blades?

About the sheath... My buddy is masterful when working with leather (sheaths, holsters, etc). He made the sheath for the right side, blade edge forward. The knife form he learned has the knife butt up in the strong hand, blade parallel to the arm with the edge forward – so this sheath design has the knife ready as drawn. Sheath is a modified pouch with a snap about halfway up the handle. Snap is a secondary retention; friction of pouch on handle & blade is primary. Long snap strap makes for quick release with sweeping motion. Full leather blade guard stitched in sheath all the way around sheath AND tip of blade. 8-9 oz. cowhide wet molded to knife, one piece of leather. Neatsfoot oil treated after drying.

Bought the knife new a few months ago. Did nothing with the logo when I stripped the blade.

That's how it's done. Making a whole cohesive system that looks as good as it works. Good times and be sure to enjoy!

I really like that sheath, beautiful work. As Mez sez, put some stainless hardware on that beast... great job!

I just barely bought a BK2, I am hoping to get it Cerakote'd this week to a nice Coyote Brown, and then add those Micarta grips. I am so excited! I hope mine will look half as good as yours, gotta find someone to make me a nice sheath like that..
