Hello Becker NUTS
Well, I have been back at it...buying up BK2's..
AND...a couple of weeks ago, I picked up a Camillus Campanion off of the exchange for what I thought was a super deal....
The downside? The previous owner had started to "mod" the blade. It still had the coating on it, but was ground at least 3/8" back from the edge...in a most uneven manner. It was bad.
No big deal...I new this when I bought it.
WHY did I buy it...cause I like grinding out sick blades...thats why!
Well, forgive the lighting in these..its 10pm here..and I just got back from my shop.
The pics don't do it justice. I can't wait to go out and use this one.

I took it back flat until about 3/8" from the spine, and then eased into a light convex...then hand polished it smooth. can you say SLICER!

I bought some Saints Armory black G10 for it, and ground that to fit...overall, very nice little slugger.
I will carry it in a leather pouch sheath I made for BK2's...until I get some kydex made up for it that is....

Ignoring all the other stuff I was doing something like that to one of my 2 haha...

Cool, I really like what your doing with the handle there...looks sweet. What material are you going to use?

Gonna use G-10, will you make scales for yours? But nice work on that 2 though, mine looks out of proportion now that the coating is off.

I want to...BUT, I paid a good chunk of change on the handle's it has now...those are black G10 from Saints cutlery. The fit on them stunk..so I figured that if I was going to regrind the entire blade...I might as well make the handles fit the knife.
Basically, If I moved them to another Becker, they wouldn't fit.
I am thinking about drilling them out, and using tube rivets...thats something I do a lot anyway on my customs. So...that would solve the problem...other than my pride for spending that much on handle slabs I have to work on.
Kabar micarta is the best deal going. Its totally worth it to me to BUY them, instead of make a set. basically...I charge more than that for my time daily...so, why not just buy some, and bolt them on. They are perfect right out of the box.

I agree. The Ka-bar micarta feels great. The fit is nice too. I only did some light sanding along some of the curves.

Very nice...changed that 2 a LOT! I kinda like it, lil ''meaner'' looking then a stock one for sure.

What's the weight difference now? and balance?

Great job man, your new 2 looks great.

And I'm interested as well, is it functionally much different than the stock one?

The balance on the Camillus Campanions is great to begin with, by my kitchen scale, its 1.1 OZ lighter than a stock GEN1 kabar BK2. So its not a BIG difference, but its slightly lighter to my hands anyway.
Having almost taken it back to full flat, its a better slicer, but I have to get out and do some side by side comparisons. I did 1 quick snap cut last night, and it took off a good sized chunk of framing lumber.
I am a big fan of clip points...basically, it looks like a polished BK7 short to me.

I've been Jonesing for a clip-pointed 2 every since I saw Warrior's custom 2. I really need to find a bladesmith who could clip mine for me. Yours looks great, GNK.

Well,
I finally got a chance to go out and do some tests..and take a few pics.
Honestly,
I did some crazy destruction stuff with the knife the other night...and ....I damaged the knife.
the edge , which I thinned down a bit, was rolled and chipped. Basically, nothing major, but the thinner edge can't take the serious ass whooping that the stock BK2 can take.
I kinda figured that this was the case...but nothing proves theory like testing.
Well, what I did the other night was...cut a couch in half.
YUP...a whole couch.
metal staples and nails all chip an edge...I don't care what kind of knife you have.
The oak and plywood frame to the couch presented little issues...the cover and padding was fun to cut. Basically, it was like skinning a deer at times...lots of pulling and slicing. Overall. The couch went in two, and then in a dumpster.

NOW, for today. I took the modified Camillus and a stock gen2 Kabar BK2 out to the oak pile and made some chips fly.
My knife cuts deeper and whittles easier.
It drilled a fire board very well.
I would hesitate to do any heavy prying on the tip of my thinner knife though.,,,unlike the stock BK2, which is a monster at basically everything.
Battoning was not an issue at all. Still splits wood like a Campanion.
Overall.
I still love the stock BK2, but my modified BK2 is going to get a permanent handle job and just live out its days as a fantastic camp knife...I love it.

I took a couch apart with my first 14 back a few months ago. just to see if I could.

I modded my ol' BK2 today, not quite as long a clip as yours but I clipped it a little....I like it, kinda subtle but it makes a difference on the pointy end. :D

SWEET!
Honestly, about the couch....I thought about taking pics of the destruction, but I was a bit embarrassed by the state of the couch PRIOR to it being cut in 2. :)
My cat had been using it as a scratch post since forever. Looked super ghetto!

Thrill, I would love to see your BK2 mods!
I am going to go this route again on a stock Kabar gen2 BK2 soon, without the flat grind. I am just going to clip it and convex it. Just to see if I notice much difference with the added 2 oz. of weight.

I took some pics today, not sure I am ''finished'' with it but I will post the pics here in a couple days.
