Thought you guys would like this

So making some kindling for the fire I smacked the ash tray resulting in a 8th inch ding in the tray and the BK2 smiled and said what else you got... Not a chip roll or any sign of edge damage. granted the tray is mild mystery steel and the BK2 is 1095 heat treated steel. But still thought it was worth sharing

The BK2 resides next to the stove with the 14 for all paper and wood processing needs.

On the right the Genesee can is a camp alcohol stove and not a pipe of any sort incase anyone wonders :)

Like it? Shit I love it!!!!!

Great post and pics man.

Had it when accidents happen but love when a tough blade shows its colors......

Wow, I would have thought it might leave a small dull spot where it the two edges met. (I think I'm looking at the right part.) Did you check how sharp the blade area that met the edge of the tray was??

Thanks for the post.

Yep paper slice test for damage... Nothing. Anything that shows in the pics is just lighting effects.

Great story and thanks for providing photo evidence!
The first day i got my BK9 i took it to a friends, we were sitting around a fire and i was showing him the knife. Then I took it to about a 3+" pine limb he had in the pile. Made quick work of it then said "watch this", pointed out the spot where it showed wear from the chop and shaved my arm hair. I didnt really think it would do it so easily and went too far leaving a huge bare spot lol.

Beckers are good stuff. Affordable and reliable. Great tools. Those 2 of mine have been work horses and show no sign of stopping :)

Love the train wrecker. I actually did a few tests on purpose a few weeks ago on some cold rolled steel 1 inch pipe....struck it 4 times with significant force and the BK2 showed no chipping or rolling what so ever. Did the paper test and could only tell it struck steel by the way the edge kind of hung up where the slightly dulled spots were. You could see no damage or dulling at all on the egde and to feel by hand it felt as though it was still razor sharp.

The one inch pipe had very deep bite marks.

Awesome blade.

I recently had the micro-bevel on my BK2 professionally thinned-out ever-so-slightly to restore the small flat plane from the slight convexing that had occurred from a couple years of hand-sharpening. The flat-again bevel has now gone from about 1 mm to about 2.5 mm and the edge is now naturally a bit more acute. And it's once again very very sharp.

I mentioned it all in an earlier post.

It'll be interesting to see (as time goes by) if the marginally more acute edge will show any signs of fragility or weakness. I seriously doubt it.

Lol that's gold Moose - I own that now! A couple of lads at work are knife nuts, the three of us walk around with this and we often laugh about it.

To get back on track to the OP thanks for the pics man, I love my BK2, I've got just about every Becker blade, and stories/pics like this just reinforces why it's my sentimental favourite. I love me all but the 2 keeps me coming back- thank you.

No prob finally figured out how post pic by myself :) now I can show someone who may care... My wife i am pretty sure just humors me cuz she's sweet when I show her stuff like this. :D
