I stripped the black finish off my new BK2 last night. Easy as pie with a lil help from Strip-X and a wire brush. I then gave the knife a quick patina with vinegar and ran the edge over my medium grit stone just to even it up a bit.
Today I brought the knife along on the job. Well I never found a job for it so when I returned home I made one up and spent an hour cleaning up some recently cut Live Oak branches. Most of the work was just de-twigging and light chopping. The knife felt good in hand and did great. The edge held up just fine.
I found a nice chunk of wood to make a handle. I will try to get that started this weekend.
I am still looking for ideas for a sheath for it.
