Got my BK2 in the mail yesterday, after waiting a week...
First impressions:
The knife feels good in the hand. Very solid. It's the first large knife I've purchased and actually intend to use[*], so I spent a fair bit of time holding it.
I attacked some small trees in my back yard -- offshoots that had taken root where I didn't want them to be. I found that hitting the branches perpendicularly produced unsatisfactory results (i.e. some penetration, but not much). When I hit them on an angle, though, big chunks of wood came off. Again, this is the first "large knife" I've owned/used, so this is probably obvious to everybody else...
Finally, I did notice that while hacking away with the knife, my hand tended to want to migrate off the back of the grip. I imagine this is just a matter of technique, on my part, as I don't have overly large hands and found the grip to be quite large enough otherwise.
All in all, I'm impressed with the BK2, despite the lack of fanfare in the packaging. The knife feels rock solid, and the edge is incredibly sharp. I feel pretty confident that this blade will hold up to anything I throw at it. And FWIW, I intend to throw a lot at it.
[*] I have a Ka-Bar USMC knife that -- for whatever reason -- I'm reluctant to tarnish. I also have a couple of Glock knives, but I don't really consider them to be "knives", so much as general-purpose poking, digging and gouging tools.
First impressions:
- I was a bit disappointed in the packaging. Per the attachment, the box came with only the knife and sheath in it. No information of any kind (in particular, no warranty card). I'd assumed Beckers come with warranties...
- The sheath is really tight. It takes a lot of muscle to remove the knife from it.
- The knife is a freaking BEAST. I figured it would be heavy duty, but I was surprised at just how heavy duty it is.
