Came into possesion of this BK2, Don't know who made it or when. It appears to have a grey epoxy paint finish and hardware that looks like it's grey anodized.

It has a sheath that says Eagle, it has an 1/8" thick kydex looking insert. Also it has a Velcro flap that allows it to be taken on and off your belt without removing it.

It is definitely a full 1/4" thick

All the holes in the scales on both sides have chamfered edges leading into them and the scales have no web stiffeners inside them like recent Ka Bar issue.

The overall shape is close, no extended tang beyond the scales and different above the scales where the cutting edge begins. The holes for the scales and lanyard line up perfectly.

Also no cut outs in the tang. There is a strange anomoly in the grind. It takes a subltle dive from the last 3/4 of the blade to the point. It is the same on both sides and after running my fingers over it i still can't decide if it takes a little dip before it tapers to the point, making it seem more pronounced. I tried to capture it in this pic

I forgot to mention that the scales are not flush with the knife handle like the new Beckers, but leave about a 1/16" reveal all the way around.
Anyone have any idea who made this and when? Thanks in advance!

I don't know who made it but I would be more than happy to give it a good home if you don't like it :D

On a more serious note:
Any idea if it's a stock or aftermarket sheath?

I don't think I've ever seen a BK2 with a shiny finish like that... could it be a blackjack era?

Edit: I think I found it in the Becker Blade Data Base:
Quote from the BK02 post: 'ooo Blackjack, and variants

oooo Second from right is an original 1st gen hard-chrome BK0-2
oooo Second from left is a 2nd gen powder coat "sterile" model; they are unmarked due to the powder coat being "tricky"'

I really like the epoxy paint finish even under the handles. It makes it a very durable Rust Resistance in the majority of the non-cutting surface.

database for the win

i've noted that someone seems to have found a crate of these models, and is pushing them hard on a certain auction site. wonder what's up with THAT.

if i were a bettering man, i'd guess that Ethan never saw a penny from those.

Thanks you guys for doing my homework for me. Bladite i found your post with the database. Nice compilation. I failed to mention that it has no markings. I tried to research the history of Blackjack knives but found no mention of Becker knives. Any idea when it was made ?

Hey Tommy......

Those blades were ground in Michigan and the"dip" was a wee twitch in the grinder cam.......I never thought a thing about it at the time......Definitely blackjack.......I would guess it is the 4140 that all early Beckers were with the exception of the TacTuls which were 440A........

All Best.....

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I ordered one of those while I was deployed to Bosnia in '96. It replaced the AF Pilots Survival Knife on my belt. What a beast! I love the sheath. A couple years ago, I removed the gray finish and the handles, replacing them with gun blue and micarta scales. It rides in my truck.
