I see many people using bike tire tubes for grips on the BK2 handle. I think this is a brilliant idea! Can anyone offer me some information on what size to get? Forgive me if this is a silly question..

If you get a tube for a mountain bike, you should be fine. Most bike shops have old ones they'll give you.
When stretching the tube onto the handle, KEEP THE KNIFE IN THE SHEATH.

Thanks! Would you also recommend filing the inside of the "blade side" of the sheath? I hear that it blunts the blade... But maybe it does't. I've never sharpened a knife before so I'd like to hold off until I can get one of those fancy spyderco sharpening do-dads.

[/IMG] I would use a 1.75 inner tube (rangerband) on a bk2. But wash the 6 inch piece out first. The bk2 is a thick little beast. And pop out the rivet highest on the spine side of the sheath. Don't worry your knife won't go anywhere with it missing. unless you don't have the fibreglass sheath.

Thanks, never thought of simply removing the rivet! Certainly sounds easier than sanding the inside!

the rivet thing certainly helps w/drawing and some dulling. Plus use a snapped hack saw blade on the inside where the blade rest. And keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks again. I will certainly keep you posted.. just as soon as I track down the supplies.
Went into the forest yesterday and chopped at some deadfalls and smashed a few rocks with the pommel. I felt like a champion afterwards! Haha

Good to hear man. Iam currently looking at replacing that flimsy nylon strap. I have an idea I'll share with you.

Good to hear man. I am currently looking at replacing that flimsy nylon strap. I was looking at SMLeather on esty but I would need it more custom. mods if things like this are not OK then say so please.

As a guitar player, modding is my nature! Except of course I can mod things relativly easy withy guitars. This is a whole new ballgame. I'm glad to take any advice you guys can offer. I do notice that the existing loop is very flimsy. Leather would look AND feel better for sure

going through old post and ran by a thread on pg 30. Just received BK2.....and..... Do an advanced search enter title, click by post & hit search. I see that Derek made the same rivet suggestion but I used a pair of needle nose instead.
