Bk2 Handle Scales

Wood = Tommythewho. :)

Micarta = KABAR (the-knife-connection.com or TOMARS KABARS is a good place to start)

You might also give some thought to making them yourself. It's actually pretty easy if you have a few tools here and there, and a very fun thing if you like DIY projects (or if you've never tried one). You can find really nice stabilized wood pre-cut into scales from Mark at Burl Source (a dealer on here), or you can make or buy your own micarta scales.

I'd take Crimson's advice. If you have the tools and the time it'd be worth making something yourself. I love seeing beckers with a personal touch. I just got a bk2 (it's a BEAST) and I'm considering stained oak scales after I strip the blade. It should be easy enough to get some oak stock at Home Depot, trace the factory scales onto it, and then just cut and shape them. Either way, you can't really go wrong with new scales.

If you do not have proper tools, generally good bladesmiths work with this material

So Family man, what did you end up doing?
Through the generosity of Oregon Fal'er, I was able to acquire a spare set of Grivory scales that are going on an adventure. First they will be sent to a knifemaker friend who offered to make me a free pair of micarta scales to thank me for supporting his endeavors. Then they are being sent to my grandpa who is making me a pair out of dymondwood.
