Hello All...

Last week I modified the handle of one of my BK2 and realized a patina with vinegar...

I would like help in a question...Heard or read somewhere that after patina made with vinegar, must be "neutralized" (with sodium bicarbonate) to not to continue their action and damage the blade.

Is this true?This doubt comes?

Thank beforehand!

I doubt it matters at this point but a baking soda bath after the vinegar will neutralize it. Your patina came out great... I'm used to seeing a solid color from vinegar (dark gray) instead of a pattern like this. How do you like your handle mod now that you've had some time with it?

I haven't heard that myself, but usually after i put a patina on my knives, i just rinse them lightly with soapy water

Godspeed...Very good ... gave greater firmness in use with sweaty hands..

Very nice job Saymon, these Grivory scales are pretty thin, how did you manage to make the grooves in them. Looks pretty neat.

Best
Moin.

Hello frined..Initially made the grooves with a fine file (victorinox sak),hen used a coarse sandpaper wrapped around a nail to enlarge..

The lines actually form on the borders of the vinegar patches. It doesn't patina as much directly under the patch of vinegar.
I do believe that, since it is some form of oxidation the borders react with the air to create the dark lines.
