So I have finally joined the Becker club and bought a BK2. Living in the UK I had to import one, as no one seems to sell them anywhere and only one site listed them, but none in stock. Kudos to Tomars Kabars for selling at a great price and offering to export (was recommended by Ka-Bar and sells them cheaper than their own site - go figure!!) What I can say is that youtube videos and reviews don't do justice to just how it feels... having it in your hand you soon realise that its one beast of a knife! Certainly feels indestructible and one I'm sure I'll be able to hand down to my son or a grandchild in years to come. I do understand the comments about the coating having a chance to feel it for my self, it doesn't seem so refined and a bit 'crude', so I kind of see why people comment about it 'biting' the wood a little and not as smooth flowing through. But does not give me any cause for concern as using this beast out of its cage it will soon break in. I in no way have large hands and still the handle feels comfortable and not limiting, so got to hand it to Ethan for its design.

The sheath is nice being a snap lock and doesn't see like it will come out anytime soon. However in this is the flip side curse. The belt loop is floppy and makes it harder to pull out the knife as its a little too stiff. Those who have them - does it slacken off a little for easier removal? This is my one and only gripe with the knife - the sheath belt loop. But I'm sure I will have this modded soon!

But overall I am so chuffed with my knife purchase and reading reviews and this great forum shows you American cousins know what your talking about when it comes to your Becker knives.

Congrats on a great Becker!

What I did to make it easier to draw and resheath was swapped out the belt loop for the Esee 5/6 MOLLE back piece. Makes it super easy to use/carry/love the -2!

Welcome to our little section of BF and the best place on the net.

I love the 2. That crude coating wears off in time with plenty of use. After splitting a few logs with it you will notice that it will start to wear down flat. If you do a quick search in the forum you will find a million different solutions to different ways to carry and sturdy up the belt loop.

Cheers!

Welcome!

You'll find lots of info about sheath modification though mine is still the stock sheath,.I don't find it difficult to draw the knife, just push the the sheath with the thumb and it's out.

As been said the coating will were But you could strip it off and polish or Patina the blade
As to the sheath You can get a one of many adapters you even get a thick leather belt loop with a ferro rod holder, all easy fixes, or a Leather custom Sheath I have a leather one with a Dangler that I Love. Tac-Loc are fantastic to make a kydex sheath do anything you want.

Mr.beckers designs and hest treatments are grade a. He knows his craft, and stands behind his product. You cant go wrong with any becker. You could always make your own kydex sheath, or with the polyester version strap it to a pack.

Congrats buddy, you made a good choice. If ever there was a knife that I would trust to help save my life outdoors.......................

I finally got to put the BK2 to work on a recent camping trip...and the verdict is this is one beast of a knife. It feels just at home smashing up wood, batoning and all kinds of abuse needed to perform bushcrafts. If feels great to be a member of the Becker family at last. But if there was one thing I would say its that the sheath (the top part) is just an utter waste and such a major down. The belt loop is large and flopping so much as it does sod all to hold the knife in place and soon as you try to pop it out the sheath flaps and flops all over, especially with the weight of the knife, and makes it just such an annoyance that it just makes you wonder why Ka-Bar bothered. The actual sheath is OK and clips the knife nicely, but its such a pain in the backside popping it out with the belt loop annoyance. So anyone thinking of getting BK2 - be prepared to buy a different sheath or budget for further options (an option 2 was sold out when I went to buy) or be prepared to modify it or adapt the one that comes with it (albeit at an extra cost), because its 'stock sheath' is frustrating to say the least.

One hell of a knife though and one that if cared for will last a lifetime!

Grats bud and welcome!

Congrats, the 2 is a great knife....don't stop there though....you should get the whole set but try the 4 or 9 next (dependong on your local laws) as they will make an awesome woods set when paired with the 2
