Was at Ace Hardware today and decided to replace the grip hardware. BK2 now has all stainless screws and lock nuts. 10-24 and 5/8" length.

No more worries about loose bolts.

Yeah it's well worth the $2 to upgrade the hardware.

Show some pics, I want to do the same...

Here is mine from a few months ago.

looks super

Nice work. Below is something I posted in another thread. Seems relevant there, especially now that you've named the right size (10-24).

Stainless hardware would be a nice touch.

CRKS used to have some. You could check there. It's probably available online via a specialty hardware store too. I've found all manner of odd hardware with Google searches. The key is knowing the proper name. I've seen the Becker hardware called Socket Head Screws, Socket Cap Screws, or just Socket Screws. See, for example, this site:

http://www.boltdepot.com/material.aspx?cc=13&cs=71

I am totally blanking on the screw size, however. I used to know it. I could probably find out with a quick trip to my local hardware store, or maybe someone here knows it.

10-24 in 5/8" length for the BK2. Heck, I might go buy up a bunch of sets and do my own little giveaway for the people that need em. I use the 3/4" length ones myself since they get into the nylon on the lock nuts a little better. The set closest to the blade though needed a little file work to keep from rubbing my hand. Otherwise, love my ss hardware. My default hardware started rusting after just a couple days, and my house isn't humid at all.

Funny story, as I was in Ace hardware looking at bolts I used the blackberry to search bladeforums and found one of bladite's posts on this subject to get the right size. (Guess that is not really funny...)

I also had to file the 5/8" bolt nearest the blade by about 3 threads.

This is one of those no-brainer upgrades. Costs under $3 and takes under 3 minutes.

I've got a couple of sets I need to file down. The stainless on my Brute sticks out a little.

Are those "tippled" grips the style they are using now, or did you do that yourself. I've got a couple of the original Beckers, a Companion, and the Pry Tool, with the smooth grips. I've tried the Canvas Micarta grips that were being put on them for awhile, but they weren't very comfortable.(and expensive!). I like the looks of yours.

Yeah man I made those by poking the grips with a soldering iron. It took like 15 minutes or so to do them.
