I finally ordered a BK2 and it should be here any day now. I wanted to say thanks to everyone in this sub forum. It is chock full of helpful information and testimonials. I should be able to go camping soon and put it through its paces.

I'll post pics as soon as I get it in the mail.

Thanks again.

The days between ordering it and receiving it are torture, just so you know :D.

Congrats on the new blade, and make sure you let us know how you like it.

You will actually be blocked from this sub-forum if pics are not posted in a timely manner. :)

Sweet dude!!!

What are your plans for it???

You know we're gonna need pix of it too :D

I will post pics as soon as I get it. The tracking information shows it should be delivered tomorrow and I can't wait. Waiting is torture!

I bought it used off of eBay and the sellers description stated it was never used outside and in excellent condition. The pictures in the auction show absolutely no wear.

I plan to use it for camping and hiking. We are hopefully camping in a couple weeks and then in a month or so my wife and I are going hiking as part of our anniversary weekend.

My BK2 just arrived. It is in excellent condition. It won't cut paper, but I don't know if they have that sharp an edge from the factory. I am going to touch it up tonight. I'll post pics in a few minutes.

I have to agree on the waiting being torture but what is worse is when you finally get them and can't do anything except open the box. My BK2 and BK7 were delivered yesterday didn't get to open the box till this morning on my way out the door to work. So now I have to wait to get home to play a bit before I go out to another meeting. WEEKEND where are you!!!!! :D

I hope you can stand to lose your car, you may decide it's worth more Beckers. On the plus side it means lots more Beckers because they're a great value!

Sounds a bit odd that the edge wouldn't cut paper. Mine wasn't amazingly sharp, but it could certainly cut paper. Most Beckers seem to come "almost" hair popping sharp from what I've heard.

Can't wait for pics :).

It wasn't brand new, but used. Here are some pics. I batoned through several pieces of wood and got two decent nicks in the edge of the blade. I must have hit some hard stuff. The edge seems to be larger than 25 degrees. I used a Smith's angle sharpener I had borrowed from a friend last night to sharpen it. I will still need to use a manual stone to get what's left of the two nicks before it is level. The coating came off the blade pretty quick since the wood was stubborn.

I love the knife and it just feels great in hand. I can't wait to get it sharper and put it through its paces. I tried to use my Sharpmaker, but I have yet to sharpen anything successfully with it in the two months I have had it. What do you guys use to sharpen your Beckers? Is a bench stone or other manual stone the easiest?

Here are some pics:

I wonder if a local butcher would touch the edge up for you, if you said pretty please ?

I touched mine up with a lansky when I first got it, which took about 20 minutes or so to change the bevel to match the lansky. It sharpened up just fine. Since then, its been easy to touch up.

I've also had good success with automotive sandpaper. The edge starts looking mirror after about 2000grit, and it shaves with ease right now.

Good luck :).

I ordered a Lansky 5 hone sharpening system. It has extra coarse stones to ultra fine. I believe it supports 5 separate angles. A brown truck should drop it off tomorrow.

Thats the one that I use, and it works just fine.

I believe it is what moose uses on his as well. I'm thinking about getting the diamond ones for changing profiles faster. We'll see though.

What angle do you use for your Becker?

I've been using the 20 degree slot, but I just read the other day that that might be a little bit off (if the blade is very wide, it will shallow the angle out quite a bit). So I'm considering changing to the 25 degree slot.

I used the lansky on my war sword as well, and did just that. I put a 20 degree bevel on there, and then finished off the final edge with a 25 degree angle. That seems to have worked pretty well.

Congrats on the Blade, your gonna love it.
It looked in great shape for being used. Keep using it, give it that loved look.
