BK2 out of box

I got my first BK2 a week ago, and love it. I was wondering if many other owners decided to sharpen it out of the box, or if you were happy with the edge it came with.

I don't think a knife is truly yours until you put your time in sharpening it to the edge that you most want. I will use a knife with a factory edge, but very rarely have I done so for any length of time.

DerekH: That's what I tend to think, too. Most of my experience with sharpening is with smaller EDC-style blades. I got this for more outdoorsy work.

i got a first gen bk2 and i did not like its sharpness. I then re-profiled it into a scandi and polished the primary bevel. i still dont like the thickness of the blade and thinking to go ffg..... just dont have the guts to do it.

My BK2 was fairly sharp out of the box, however, I usually like putting a convex edge on most of my stuff. Quick pic of the strop/sandpaper work, then stropping with black and white compounds.
