Hello all, today I was able to do my patina and my new friend the BK2!
This is my second time patina('ing'?) so don't expect much lol.
Here we go!
All clean and ready to strip!

Don't breath this lol, it's pretty nasty stuff.

Here she is all cleaned up, time to sand and prep her for the Patina.

Yum yum yum.
I went very reserve with the grinded portion of the blade this time, but to my surprise things came out differently.

As you can tell there's different hues and colors of patinas that are showing!!!

A slightly better picture, the patina is a lot more pronounced in person with the other colors/hues.

Here she is all oiled up and ready for her wood handles when they arrive.
The darker section of the blade is heavily patina'd which I find very interesting.
I really wish the pictures could do this thing justice.
Damn me for not having a decent camera.

What do you guys think?

Yum! Like it a lot! I prefer working patinas myself, but I can appreciate the appeal..... It'll be a stunner with some tommythewho scales.....

Oh I can't wait, by Friday!
And I always use my knives, so this should be getting a nice additional patina like what my BK9 is getting!

Gotta love a good patina. Your 2 is looking great so far. To get some interesting colors, I like to cut up meat. I've gotten some blue and reddish hues from steak, chicken, and of course bacon. I can't wait to see your bk2 with the wood scales.

Thanks a lot!
I'm trying to figure out what caused the different hues on my BK2, I got them on my BK9 from using it don't know why these popped up on the BK2 lol.

Did you wipe it down really good before the patina? I'm not positive, but it may have been wiped down with a Tuff Cloth at one point in time. Maybe it was that trying to not let it patina.

Oh yeah, before and after sanding wiped with an alcoholo prep pad, and microfiber cloth.
It's interesting in the last picture you can sort of see the different hues, almost like a layered patina.
I think it looks neat, it looks a lot better in person.
