BK2 Piggyback HELP

I need advice on how to Piggyback/attach my Green River hunter to my BK2 sheath. On my BK2 sheath, I removed the stock strap, added a tek lok, and have added the esee maxpedition pouch to the front. I'm open to changes in order to get this to work. My Green River Blade is 5", with a 9" overall length. Forged from .112" thick carbon cutlery steel. I currently do not have a sheath for it. Is the knife to long to piggyback/connect it to my BK sheath and if so does anyone have any suggestions for how to get it done? Should I make a kydex sheath for it, another type of sheath, etc.... Any ideas would be great!!

Here is the GR knife. Just did a paracord handle wrap on it last night... Thanks for the help!

Assuming you have a stock BK2 sheath, which is what it sounds like, I would go about it by making a kydex sheath and using some spacers with slanted/angled tops and long (1 1/2" - 2" maybe) screws and attach it the same way some of the kydex benders here do with smaller knives.

On the other hand, that's 2 decent sized knives attached to each other, you may want to wear your belt a little tighter when you carry them both.

If you are not opposed to buying something, I know that Godspeed Tactical can help you out. He does great work and has probably the most extensive library of pics of piggybacking that I have seen.

Thanks Jim!

I was looking at this yesterday and wasn't sure how to put my thoughts down so here it goes. If you're sticking with a pouch mounted up front you need to mount your homemade Kydex on the rear and at an angle... the main thing that throws me off is the size of the secondary blade I think it's basically the same size as the BK2???

However if you are willing to go custom Jim steered you in the right direction.;)

I just finished a BK9/Mora Clipper combo that I was concerned might be too big for the setup but my customer (Beckerhead?) was onto something really good with this setup. No pouch on this one just a low profile piggyback setup but an example of how you could make your backside/piggyback bigger than normal then just trim off the excess.

Now to the pouches, this is my specialty and how I started my Kydex "career"... mounting pouches to smaller knives and especially piggybacking them.

If you have "dial-up" I'm sorry for all the pictures and Moose owes you a new computer if it crashed (just tell him Eli sent ya).

Hope this helps, my site is way behind on pictures and I have more than this that are unedited or repeats of similar setups so I didn't include them.

Flash back: So how come when I asked about piggybacking my 16 on my 2 all in the spring I got was a 'durrr...... Get some smaller/larger knives!'?

Anyhow, now I'm in the same boat is you are FingerBlade, my remaining money from camp is starting to dwindle and GodSpeed ain't helpin'! I wonder if I can get a job at UPS or USPS.... Then I don't need to buy knives anymore, you guys just have to say you received boxes with run-away letters and no knives!

P.S. Sorry I forgot to mention you in my first post GodSpeed, I was actually thinking of your sheaths but couldn't remember who made them.

Thanks for all the info... I'm not sure what I want to do. I'm trying to decide whether to buy a smaller knife and piggyback it to my bk2 or still use my GR. It's crazy but I bought my GR for $9.99 a couple yrs ago and have gone through four handle changes, whenever I get bored. It's just a cheap knife but I find myself using it more than any of my other knives. I've been eying all the wonderful Godspeed sheaths so I may contact them to see about possibly making a horizontal crossdraw sheath for the GR. I've been trying to justify upgrading my BK2 sheath to a Godspeed but I can't justify doing it. I've never experienced any of the stock sheath problems that I have read about on the forum as far as being overly tight or dulling the blade and once I put on the Tek Lok it's been great. It's definitely not great looking like the Godspeed.

Godspeedtactical, man your work is absolutely amazing! i can tell you really put alot of effort into making these. if you had any ontario sp8 machete sheaths id be all over it. I just got it and i dont really want to send it off :)

I planned on ordering a bk2 end of the month, my wife said shed get it for xmas but i dont want to wait, but now it looks like i might have to get a bk7 instead just to get a BK7/bk11/Pouch Combo

but still id prefer the bk2 alone and a sp8 sheath piggybacking a bk11 with dangler belt loop, firesteel and esee pouch. I might order the bk7 just for that sheath.... man this site ruins peoples budgets lmao :)
