so my bk-2 came in friday....im in love. it really is a beast of a knife. i cant imagine anyone ever busting one of these( well except for throwing......).here are a few things i LOVE about this knife

handle- the swell fills you hand just right, making it feel really natural in your hand, like the knife is trying to fit you hand instead of the other way around

sharpness- out of the box it was easily cutting the hair of my arm( i actually went overboard, so now i have zero hair on the arms OR my legs...whoops)

grind- the grind to me seems like it is really an ideal grind for an all around knife

thickness- the 1/4 inch thickness really is a blast. performed amazing at the little batonning i have done( the coating actually held up ok)

now to be fair, im going to put a few of the critics i have

uneven grind- it doesnt really bother me because its a user anyway, but i notice one of the grinds end about 1 cm closer to the tip than the other

sheath- im not a huge fan. retention is a little much for me( i like it fairly loose, just enough to stay in, like the esee-5 sheath)

lopsided tip- on side of the tip is rounded to the tip, while the other is straight.

overall i love this knife.....to be honest even more than my esee 5 "gasp"

Good review. Its my favorite by far. Weird about the grinds though, all the ones I've gotten (5 so far) have been spot on. You may want to contact Kabar and ask about it, that doesn't seem to be the norm in QC, but they are hand ground, I do know that. Who knows, may just add some character to it. The huge benefit to the B&M stores is getting to pick what you want. When I buy at the SMKW, I usually have about 10-12 knives laid out and I inspect each one before deciding. Internet sales, I just roll with what I get.

well i did buy it from amazon, anyway i could of boughten like one of there jacked up models? im not really interested in sending it back....just because im already in love with it. and while the grind is definetly off, its almost sort of rounding up to the grind, so your not able to tell unless you really look at it. i will try to get my hands on a camera to take a picture of it, but dont expect anything for a couple of days

My BK-2 is my favorite Becker of all. Handles great, chops well, great edge. It's a big knife with a small foot print that is easily controllable and I love that about it. That grind doesn't sound right, none of my Beckers have ever been like that, I'd probably at least send them pics and let them know.

man i thought i was going to be called a perfectionist for mentioning the grind. looks likei was wrong. just wondering, you guys know that im talking about the saber grind coming to a halt right? and not like the edge. edge is fine, saber is just a little under 1 cm different

Yeah, I know what you are talking about. 1 full CM sounds a bit extreme to me. I want to see pics as soon as you can, and I know Kabar will want to as well.

Hey, it happens, they can't all be perfect rolling out the door. No one here is baggin on you or Kabar, and that's the important thing. If you came in bitching and "goin' off", it would be different. Call them and if I know Toooj, you'll be outfitted with a new blade toute suite. If not, wear it out, I don't think it will alter performance.

i started stripping the blade with sandpaper( hard to do) and the grind seems to be getting more even. maybe im wearing away the metal, but i think it may just be uneven coating. its still a little uneen, but not as much as it was

I have an aftermarket kydex sheath for my BK2, which makes a big difference. But that knife is still a big, hefty piece of sharpened pry bar.

Cool deal, I hope it pure perfection under there.

Man, I would get some stripper or something. I have only sanded down 1 Kabar Becker and never again will that happen:barf:. I nearly chunga'd from the effort. Jasco is some evil stuff, but it makes the epoxy paint run off the metal like it had Montezuma's Revenge. $6 at most home improvement and hardware stores.

But hey, if you're into pain and work, by all means, sand the hell outta it. Your gonna have to sand out the primer and laser marks anyway, if you want it to be shiny. I recommend starting heavy, like 300gt, the 600 w/d, and finish with some 0000 steel wool with mineral oil as a lubricant. Works well.

after you sharpen it a few times, i imagine grind and any edge issue are ... yesterday's news?

it's a good knife. the price is nice. it's hard to argue about little things, though still, KaBar should see those pictures. just in case. i don't think that's entirely normal.

you should see some of the mistakes Camillus put out. thermoplastic handles on backwards ;) nice.

Hey Nutnfancy....

Glad you are liking the Knife.....If it is off Tooj will want a look.....So if you get a chance post a pic or two......

Let us know how she works for you and don't forget pictures.....

Thanks for buying Becker......

All Best...

alright so ive stripped off the coating, and low and behold the grind is perfect. so im guessing it is more of an extra coating issue that a real blade issue. loving the blade even more now
@ ethab- wow im honored to of gotten your attention. pics coming tomorrow. btw to avoid any confusion i made my name when there was the whole deal with the cold steel recon 1 breaking, and i was supporting nutns thoughts on it. didnt think i would stick on the forum so i didnt plan to have this become like a name i would use. so im NOT nutnfancy( ive had more than 1 guy actually accuse me of being him and lying about it lol)
@ bladite- dude you got to be kidding me, backwards handles!!!!

@mobydick- how do you like yours? im completely in love, now i want a bk9 to see if the bk2 was a rare gem of perfection, or if all beckers belong in a chest.

Just got mine in today, and im loving it. love the thickness and the wight it feels perfect in the hand. but like you said it dose have a bit of a lopsided tip but other then that perfect fit and finish.

I just got one and I love the knife but not the sheath. It is quite appealing visually, but it's difficult to remove the knife and makes too much noise in the process. I would be happy if I can find a plain leather or nylon sheath for it.
