BK2: Seeking Answers and Tips Regarding Sheath

Hello Beckerheads!

Today I made my first purchase of a quality knife. I always found myself purchasing cheap little pocket knives that you can find at flea markets and such (which is a good thing, because I can't seem to remember where I've placed them). The only knife that was in my possession before today was a Case knife that belonged to my grandfather.

After doing hours upon hours of which knife to buy and why, I finally decided on the Becker BK-2. I ordered it Friday and just received it today. I am very impressed with how stout it feels! I knew it was a beast, but pictures and videos on the internet do not do this blade justice!

If you're familiar with the BK-2, then you are likely familiar with it's sheath as well. One thing I wish to improve is the nylon belt loop that comes attached to the sheath. The belt loop has a clamp on it that helps secure the knife into place while its in the sheath. Once the clamp around the knife handle is undone, the knife likes to flop around, which is less than ideal if you are wanting to sheathe your knife temporarily and then unsheathe it again (more of a nuisance than anything). My question is: what are some easy fixes to correct this problem?

I've been trying to find easy solutions to this problem, but have yet to find any that were feasible for myself. Most solutions involved either buying a new sheath completely or completely replacing the strap.

If anyone has any tips or ideas for me to get the most out of this knife, it would be appreciated. I attached a lanyard to it using a piece of paracord, but thats the only addition I've made to it. Thanks in advance!

P.S. Sorry for the lengthy post. Also, if this is a repeated thread, I apologize for that as well. As a new member, there's so much content to try and sort through!

Hey jasenxcore,i don t have a bk2 but was pretty annoyed by my bk7 sheath as well ( more of a size thing than anything else). I fixed the problem by getting a kydex sheath from azwelke that is here on the forum as well.he does great work with kydex and now my knife is secure and tight in it's bed.
AZWELKE.COM i believe,hope this help

There are lots of viable solutions. Something simple (slide something stiff into the loop such as a piece of kydex or foam) or metal (if you're The Warrior) or you can do something slightly more expensive (but still cheap-ish) remove that loop and attach either a dangler from one of our kydex/leather benders, or a Tek-Lok, or for slightly more (possibly) you can go the route I did and went to get an Esee 5/6 MOLLE back and attached it, along with getting a pouch for the front.

Wait til Warrior gets here - he did a sick mod for his BK2 sheath. I'll be borrowing a couple of his ideas when I do mine.

I actually found his site when I was first researching fixes for this sheath. I may end up buying one of his sheaths eventually, but for now was looking for a quick fix.

I was thinking of trying to buy some metal skewers and attempting to brace it with those. How did you remove the rivets on your sheath? Seems it could present a challenge.

I saw his mod and it's very, very impressive. I have zero experience with DIY but I see more and more that I may have to dive into that area.

Thanks for all your replies! I'm very excited about this knife and look forward to improving it! :D

No rivets to undo. It was two (maybe four) screws that got unscrewed to remove the plastic tab attached to the webbing.

I managed to reduce the floppiness of my belt loop on my BK2 by sewing a line across the top about three inches up, then placing some useful credit card shaped items in the resulting pocket and covering with inner tube.

It didn't completely eliminate the problem, but it did help.

No floppy danglers. Nothing really wrong with the stock sheath that a belt loop and a couple minutes with a heat gun can't fix.

Judging by most of the mods I've look up, it would seem I need to learn how to sew! I like this solution a lot. Seems relatively simple. Does it matter what size on the inner tube?

Warrior, I love that sheath every time I see it. Very impressive work. I only wish I had the patience/knowledge/skills to do something similar.

I'm loving this clean design. Very low profile. I dig it!

My BK2 sheath I first sewed the loop together about 1 1/2" down, it fit well on my belt but still had the floppy effect if the knife was out. I've since removed the nylon and installed a large tek-lok 'backwards' and it works great.
