Bk2 sheath mod question

I recently became the proud owner of a new BK2. I love the sheath but can't get the damn knife out (I am old and feeble). My question is, what would happen if I removed the 2 top rivits on the sheath ? I suspect it would remove some of the tension but on the other hand would it remove too much tension ?
I really hate spending as much money for another sheath as the knife itself costs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can try heating it with a hair dryer (NOT HEAT GUN), and flex it a little to release some of the tension. Do it a little at a time. Go slow, and I have taken mine apart and put it back together a few times. If you do take the rivets out, put some hardwar in its place, with some spacers if need be.

OK - I just drilled out the two top rivits and managed to not ruin the sheath. They do spin when drilling so I used another drill bit placed in a vice to drill against.
I can remove the knife easily now. It has a tiny bit of rattle but the blade does not come out when upside down even with some good shaking. It's also very quiet when removing from the sheath if you do it slowly.
I will probably dress it up with some paracord to cover the holes. All in All a good mod for the old and feeble.
